Going to do oil n filter on my pd130.

What oil would people recommend? Any good deals at the moment?

Also, do I need a new sump plug/washer or can the old one work fine?

Cheers!

Be best off to change the sump plug and washer, its only a few £ and cheaper than having to drop the oil again if it leaks or damages the threads.

I went for Mobil 1 ESP 5W30 fully synthetic oil that exceeds longlife spec, was £43 from Halfords on trade for 5litres I think

I use a Pela pump, can't beat it, can change the oil in your best suit !!

Simples, pipe down the dip stick hole, pump out the oil, quick filter change and the jobs done.

Can't recomend them enough, I was changing the oil every 8 weeks on my old Tolly due to a long commutte and it saved me fighting with the undertray, jacks, axel stands etc.

I did jack it up and drain it about every 3 or 4 times to remove any crud from the bottom, but never found anything dodgy in the oil at all.

In fact I find you can remove more oil with the Pela as you can use it to suck oil out of the filter housing to..

Fully recomended..

Thanks very much. Where would i be able to get a sump plug and washer?

From your dealer or try Dave at SERE Motors on here, usually really good prices and quick delivery. I got my filter and sump plug from him

Where about did you get the pump from? Does it fit most engines or is the size engine specific?

If you mean the Pela oil pump, I got it from Ebay.. 25 quid delivered if I remember correctly.

The guy I bought it from was a boat dealer, sort of makes sense as how do you change oil on a boat, I would think the sump plug on an inboard lump is pretty inaccessable.

Really really good though, works a treat !!

I bought it after seeing that video link that I posted earlier, thought it was a good idea.

Cheers folks. Think i will go for quantum longlife as mobil esp is £53 in halfords!

I dont mind paying for decent oil, especially when people say that the correct oil is crutial for PD130's and could also prolong the life of the engine. Try Opie Oils, they often have discounts or deals
