Darren done well today, and to put up with my post-night out divvy-ness. Lol.

The calipers look really good what paint did you use? Most people use hammerite but i found it very thin and you have to be careful not to apply too much.

What colour decal are you going for?

Cheers mate Done with 2 400ml spray cans of Hammerite Smooth Red . 2nd can not been touched yet though.

Decal wise it'll be OEM white to keep it pretty OEM exterior wise and also for Brembo tradition, lol.

The black decals look good on your calipers mate.

So how dos that work? A plate goes behind then the front plate bolts to it?

Yep theres 2 metal bars that sit horizontal to those 2 bolt's, the bars are taped, once the bolts are tightend it all holds in place.

Once I'd decided to get the parts for the Brembo refurb it really made sense to get the high temp matt black paint for the hubs to be re-painted. Really completes the wheel area from being let down.

Right down to silvervision bulbs, I still maintain it's the small mods that make a big difference in getting a project over the line..

Are you going to pop along to the AmD RR meet? I'm going but I doubt I'll put the car on the rollers now. Would rather spend the money on the car where it needs it. Would be good to catchup mate.

Sure is coming along now.. You have to do these mods to get the enjoyment back again. In an ideal world, I'd want to get something done every weekend, lol.

Yeah he's a good bloke to know and he lives fairly close so it's handy!

It's worth doing and your look with yellow on anthracite would work on a dark car, get it done

Once the Brembo transfers are applied, will you be lacquering them? I raise this as I didn't orignally lacquer my rears, and they started to show signs of wear through the elements. The fronts on mine, with lacquer, still look brand new after a spring/summer of driving.

We was'nt planing on sealing the stickers, we're using the same ones as I've got on mine, mine have been on for about 6 month's and their wearing well.
Their also fairly cheap so they its not the end of the world if they need replacing.

Yeah no need to lacquer them, i didn't with mine, you just need to make sure they are stuck down well before removing the backing paper.

Well we haven't planned on lacquering when we do the rear one's as Darren's have been fine for a while. Will keep my eye on it but read alot of refurb threads where it's not been done and they've been fine. It may also vary car to car given the harshness of braking tied with water marks on the caliper at the time causing the 'white patches' - it should be ok to carry on without lacquer this time.

Sure is! I always get a few done the day I get car lol. With this LCR it was straight to Skoda the day I bought it to get a Fabia rear wiper and then Halfrauds to get silvervision indicator bulbs!

Products used:

Wolf's de-ironiser
120 grit wet & dry sand paper
2 400ml spray cans of smooth red Hammerite
For the hubs I bought halrauds own high temp matt black paint. it's a small pot I can't remember the ml because I've left it all at DK's for the return trip to get the rears sorted.
You'll obviously need 2 fresh brembo decals
A dust sheet or equivalent you can throw over half the car covering as much as poss
Loads of newspaper with masking tape
Scalpel to get off as much old lacquer as poss

Can't really think of anything else other than a trolley jack and don't forget your locking wheel nut adapter like I did - LOL.


Worth getting the Brembo refurb done when the weather is like this. Can only get worse now haha..
Mine won't be on the rollers either bud! If you can get down on the day it would be good. Hope you sort the oil leak soon mate.

No no, not for the purpose of sealing the transfers, but to actually seal and protect the paint... Just based on my experiences of course...

Had another busy day working on Tom's car.

1st up we applied the Brembo Decal's to the front calipers

Next we jacked up the back and made a start on the RARB, Whilst I was under the cat Tom made a start cleaning up the rear hubs and calipers.
The plan was to spray the calipers but due the strong winds we decided to paint them instead,

We could of probably got a better finish spraying them but with the way the wind was we decided it was'nt worth the risk with the overspray.
Tom also painted the hubs and the disc shiels matt black.

After lots of swearing I finally got the RARB on,

I also managed to get the tail pipe to sit a bit better in the bumper

I used a jubile clip around the middle mount rubber and a cable tie around the rear hanger, we did get a bit of a rattle on start up so this might need adjusting a bit but it certainly looks better.
