What reason do we all modify cars for other than those small gains? These cheap Calvin Klein's on the Market look the same. But my tackle always feel better in the originals.

What reason do we all modify cars for other than those small gains? These cheap Calvin Klein's on the Market look the same. But my tackle always feel better in the originals.

I would disagree about the inside not being smooth, it mirrors the tool surface which is smoothed and as there is no insert in the end that would create a small lip then it is smooth. As with the Subaru tip SFS have already done 76mm turbo versions as well, speaking to them they can manipulate tooling to alter end diameters for hybrid tubs.
Think I'm kinda swayed to get sfs tip simply due to price and the fact I can get green along with dv to chargepipe hose and other hoses all with 25% off so can argue with that
I think all these products have a place, there are no patent infringements and the way I see it is if others take up development of this improved TIP, who knows maybe they might themselves find ways not previously thought of to advance it further which is beneficial to us all, competition is healthy to a point, if the goal is to make a superior product and not just to be focused on the profit to be made, if competing products only compete to be cheaper sacrificing quality, then you do get what u pay for, luckily while Bill does have to make a turn over to pay his bills, you can be sure he like fellow enthusiasts that strive for improvement get pleasure from creating/advancing our hunger for HP and are not just in it for fiscal rewards.

the badger 5 tip is fantastic, credit is due... my car loves it.
there was once a time on this forum where forge made the best TIP for our cars. i know cos i bought it. but times change, now i have the badger 5 tip...

It was only a matter of time before it was copied, much like Bill im surprised it wasnt done earlier. Kudos to Bill for being the first and leading the way. 
Regarding the taper & reducer argument i'd imagine they offer near as damn the same performance gain. They're essentially doing the same thing, as a design engineer the billet reducer sits well with me for no other reason that i appreciate the design intent and workmanship.
At the end of the day they're both great products offering substantial performance gain for not a lot of money. The only perceivable difference between the two that i can is the quality of hose used, in this respect i feel the B5 TIP has the edge as it uses Forge quality hose.

Would the gradual reduction not create a Venturi tunnel effect? Sucking in the air from the larger intake then the air accelerating thru the smaller section. Meaning the turbo can get air in faster for faster spooling, where as the the adaptor has a harsher step creating turbulant air?
Now Im not even gonna start to claim to know loads about turbos and car engines. I'm just going from what I know off aircraft design and engineering.

How do get to that statement? SFS 14 years and UK made, Forge about 5-6years experience and not made by them or UK??
Since when is country of origin relevant?
The hose is not made by forge, so that comparison is also.......... wrong.
UK made, sadly does not mean much either... wish it did though.

I think EVERYONE knows Bill did the thinking,designing,research and the development into the 3" TIP.
Its been copied / bandwaggon jumped-on,call it what you will.
I don't own one yet,but i will be buying one of Bills,not a copy (no matter what the colour lol) and i will be happy wth its design & performance.

In real world terms I doubt there's going to be that much difference if any on BHP gains out of the 2. The advantage of the SFS offering is the colour choice and price, 2 of the most important things in this case. As for the materials of both then no one can really comment unless you have the actual 2 hoses in front of you to compare.

Interesting read this, ill be honest the only thing that has stopped me buying a B5 tip is simply the price...(house moveing atm 
) But as in most things in life you pay for what you get..!
one would assume that due to the amount of research time and energy that has been put into the product the cost has to be past on the justify making it, I use to work for Adidas and the famous Predator football boot that is world famous and gets a face left every season cost less that $20 to produce per pair, but the RRP is $120 why? Because the money time and effort put into researching the product in the first place to make it the best it is! that’s why 10 years on Adidas are still top on their game.

No, but ive heard most of his cars are pretty bouyant, must be down to the 3" tip and all that boost!
Imitation is the highest form of flattery so Bills obviously built a good product. Time to make something even tastier... huge K03S market out there I would have thought...
I cant offer an opinion on the TIPs as im still on the stock one.... cant beat a bit of rubber

It would seem awesome have started selling the SFS T.I.P, they have the same graph that was posted earlier and sight that the reason for the gain is due to the tip getting smaller towards the turbo inlet end.

One thing i do know, the gs figure is bullshite. Never seen a stock ko4 flow 235 gs or even the 233 they say the b5 tip made. Gs readings on a dyno are always lower than on the road. I flow a max of 229 gs on a badger 5 tip and not seen anyone above that, so to make another 6 on a dyno is unreal.

Is 5-Ply really a selling factor for a TIP? It's not as if the thing is holding 2 bar of boost.
Without competition and variation the car modifying game would be boring and we'd all make similar figures and power.
