I have just been reading the service schedule on my 60 plate 1.6 cr tdi and if I have read it right (did read it half a dozen times) the cam belt first needs changing at 130k miles, is this likely to be correct.

i bought a skoda fabia monte carlo 1.6cr tdi late week. just checked my service book and you would appear to be correct. normally it is 60k or 4 years but his must be changed now
Well 130k seems a long time for a poor old rubber belt to be whirring round, not to mention it could be 10 years old before it gets replaced.

It says 130k miles in my service book for the 2.0 TDi. They must have made the belts much stronger to last that long, probably more metal re-enforcement in them.

You know Seat would find some excuse not to pay out(oil or fluid leak on it or something)
we are talking about a company that thinks that a mirror switch breaking after 6 months is a wear and tear item, wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.
Great news, mine will be 3.5 years old with c. 100k when I get rid. Bargain. Seem to have just posted this in some weird part of the site, not sure what that's about.

Not sure if it's a diesel thing but my last car, a Citroen C2 HDI was not due for a cam belt change until 140K.
I did 120K in three years and it was still in fine fettle, as was the clutch, which is pretty good seeing as I am a driving instructor.

Do you know if model year matters? There were some changes to maintenance schedules between MY10 and MY11.
