Can anybody tell me how to re-set this sodding system?

I check my tyre pressures the other day, they were all about 1-2 psi down, so I've topped them up, and now this warning system is driving me mad.

It goes off, I stop, follow the reset procedure, set off again and within 10 minutes it's doing it again.

If it works the same as in my A3 then you just keep the button pressed for about 5 seconds, then it is reset.

Yes, push the TPM button on the centre console till it "bongs", then its reset.

I guess you've reset it with the tyres at the correct pressures? Then if they go down, the system will recognise that you have a problem from the correct pressures.

If it goes off whilst driving, a car layout comes up on the centre of the dials display & tells you which tyre that has the problem. (as it did when I had 2 screws in one of mine.) You will know if that comes up, you can't ignore it!
I can't understand why it is going off since youve topped the tyres UP, if thats what you mean?? What "warning" are you getting?
Use a quality meter too. Garage ones can be very badly calibrated.

Concurr with the other comments , also it could be a loose sender wire [ if there are no major pressure differentuals] 1-2 psi will not trigger the system though ?. See if there is a local member with a VAG COM who is prepared to check out your car, before you take it to the stealers.

My understanding is that the system doesnt monitor tyre pressures directly (so no 'sender wire') but monitors wheel speeds via the same sensors used for ABS: the wheel speeds are compared and if significantly different then a tyre pressure warning is given. Happy is someone can tell me otherwise, from facts :)

, Sorry, I did mean that! but the different wheel rpm's are sent via magnetic pickup AND wire, too the ABS/ECU - hope this is a bit clearer !!? [ if type pressures are correct then it will be a poor signal/broken wire within either of the above devices]

Update - no change

Car's been into the SEAT dealer in Preston (Hobin?) twice now.

They're nice people, and I've explained the symptoms twice.

First time, I collect it and they tell me "eureka" and they've fixed a puncture, and reset it (tyre had a nail in it but was holding pressure) - 20 minutes after collection, bong and on comes the TPMS warning - Screen says TPMS.

Second time, i wait with the car, they "force" the software which has ostensibly fixed the fault, having deflated, and reinflated all the tyres. I take it home and on the way to work this morning, bong, and on comes the light again. Screen says TPMS.:wtf:

I now suspect an ABS sensor, or software - I'll call them tomorrow, explain the symptoms for a third time and see what happens.:cartman:

The screen just says TPMS - no icons visible except for a tyre image (amber) light on the dash.

I have a race X gauge which is about as good as they come - followed the process in the manual over and over again - same result.

I've had this happen a couple of times too. What's even more anal is that resetting the tpms doesn't do sod.. I've found that I need to reboot the car to get rid of the warning.. then it stays gone until next time which happens god knows when..

Also lately I seem to get intermittent warni gs about blown number plate light bulb, but that's a bogus warning as well.. the light is burning nice and bright. That warning goes away when I just turn off headlights and turn them back on. This is something that has only happened lately now that we've had dodgy weather... Firt extreme colds and snow and now rain and low temps on the plus side of scale so loads of damp and salty water from roads.

Almost tempted to say "dodgy seat electronics" as someone else mentioned. When I have time I'll open the number plate light housing and see if it's wet inside.

Look at some of the AUDI b7 Forum's, that's where I have been getting some of the historical data/faults/remedies for our cars!! - should have been fixed on design x over though ?!?@~

How do I reboot the car?

Do I need a HHT or a code reader?

nopes, no tools neede. What I meant was stop at the side of the road, turn off ignition & remove keys. then restart and continue as normal.. bit like ctrl+alt+del on a windows computer ;)

I've been suffering from this annoying issue for the past 2 months, it's even been back to the dealer, whilst they fixed a dodgy tilt sensor for the lights. As soon as I drive with the lights on - beep - the warning comes on, sometimes several times on one journey.

I've checked the contacts but all seems ok to me. If you find the cause do let us know...

The car went back to Hobin on Wednesday last week, and they kept it overnight.

A man from Seat UK worked on it - and they've changed the software using a flash update (SVM30A8).

100 miles later - not a bong or light - methinks they've cracked it - clever fellas :funk:

All in all, Hobin have been spot on - their customer service has been excellent, even more so when you consider that they didn't supply the car.
Well done! :D

Now done a 2,200 mile round-trip to Austria and back - no problems of any kind.

In Germany we tried an experiment:
Autobahn Speedo Indicated 141 MPH :D

Autobahn Sat Nav said 134 MPH

Who cares?

just bought a seat exeo 2.0 sport tdi had it about a week when the tmps system alert went off.Checked tyre pressures and reset all ok for about another week then it came back on 3 days in a row.Took the car to seat who say i have different make tyres so need to buy a whole new set of tyres of the same make as the speed ratings are different?
.Im currently checking this with seat uk and getting a second opinion from another seat dealer.
any ideas? looks like i may have to fork out for new tyres ill keep u posted.

Silly warnings - or are they?

TPMS came on when I went out for the first test drive at the dealer's. Turned out it was a few psi down on nearside front tyre. In the first couple of weeks after I bought the car, the rear number plate warning came up intermittently and, to be fair, one bulb WAS out - sometimes. Then the bulb started working again, although the dash warning still came on a few times, then stopped. Can't work out if it's a dodgy sensor, dodgy contact or nothing at all. Hasn't happened for a while now, so maybe it's cured itself.

Hobins have always been spot on with me as well. But have heard a few bad stories.
