Hey, I have been quite tempted in ordering a new cupra since finding out the insurance is cheaper on cupra vs. fr

I have driven the FR and feels great but was wondering if anyone has managed to find some power graphs to compare torque and bhp between the 2.

Thanks guys, cant wait to get back into a SEAT again :p

Edit: Also any helpful advice would be much appriciated

A simple stage 1 remap would net the same figures as a cupra so it really would not make any difference. As you said though, insurance is the big drawing point and the fact that if you buy an FR, every time you see a cupra you will be thinking, "if only......."

I was thinking of REVO stage 1 anyway since I had stage 1 on my 2004 FR and I loved it. Insurance is the big one but weirdly the Cupra is £265 cheaper than the FR

And since it is only 1k or so difference in price I think I'd be happy to be poor for an extra month and know i got the right choice :)

For the roof I was thinking should I get the sun roof or just vinyl it black and save monies?

If you are just considering the petrol TSI engines, then in my view it's a no-brainer... Go for the Cupra. :)

I'm replying way too quick but on one of those browsing runs.

Had a look at some second hand Cupra's with the spec I want that is 10k less than current retail price. This also means the engine has been broken in so I can then get it Revo'd asap :p

Any known problems from 10' plates?

I've been calling round and no one has got one I could test drive within 40mile radius

Is there someone local that could help me out here, PLEASE.

I'm Hants. Winchester area

Just hang fire for the right one to turn up. One will show up sooner or later. Dont be tempted to drop any options you want or you may regret it in the end.

My boc should be at colliers in Birmingham if you fancy a drive LOL.

Thanks but no thanks :D

I am willling to wait but test driving a car is the first part, then I shall get picky with the options. I've been a TDI owner for years and I dont want to be missing that torque.

I had the same problem, I kept getting tempted towards the Cupra but about £2,000 difference between Cupra and FR swayed me to FR!

but the cupra looks so much nicer!

Not £2,000 nicer when you really can't afford it!

No doubt I would of been straight in the Cupra if it was cheaper.

My FR looks awesome in track grey though, and both the FR and Cupra seem to still be a rare sight!

think it depends on the person tbh. I sure dont think that. If your the kind of person would pay double for an identical t-shirt which just has a lacoste logo on it then you might end up driving past a cupra and wish you had one. If your logically minded, then you will refuse to pay an extra £1500 for a mechanically identical car(bar springs, which most people change because they are too high anyway), its £2000 if you get a boc! I actually prefer the rear of the fr to that of the cupra and I also prefer the wheels on the fr.

another £500 for a bit of extra black is not worth it, but the £1500 for Cupra interior, wheels and bumpers.. that's worth it!!

FR bumpers are horrible, looks like a boggo spec beeza!

The smart money would buy the FR and a re-map. As a mapped FR has the same power as a mapped Cupra.

However resale will noit be the same, I am sure it has slightly less spec (suspension?) and doesn't have the looks.

You can get it in 5 door though which is useful for those who need the extra doors and the FR wheels are far nice than the Cupra's.

refuse to pay an extra £1500

That's OK - I paid less than list price for an FR for my Cupra, so it was cheaper!

To be honest, I didn't even consider the FR knowing full well I was getting it mapped - I wanted the nicer spec and black roof
