I've just bought some coilovers to replace my old ones that have been on the car a good couple of years and could well have done anything between 20k and 30k.
Basically should I get new top mounts and what should I look for on my current top mounts to gauge whether they would need changing?

Car is an 05 Ibiza cupra 1.8t

Cheers for any help in advance :D

I would for sure mate, its cheap, easy and will eliminate any problems in that area of your whip when you change them over.

Are you selling your old ones?

Yup I would change them. Will save you alot of time / labour as its sure they'll go at some point as its a common fault.
Maybe also do the drop links aswell, these 2 cause most knocking noises at the front.
I did all mine about 2 years ago when I fitted coilies, and sounds like ones away again. Hoping its the drop link

Depends if you want to throw money away or not.

IMO, its best to get them coz its easier for fitting. But I've personally never seen a top mount fail. I've seen failed bearings, but even with them, a clean and regrease is more than enough.

That's what I did with mine. Changed bearings too

You might actually save money in the long run, you'll save on labour costs / your own time as if they fail in your ownership its shocks and springs off again.
Same with replacing the DMF while gearbox is off to replace a clutch

depends if you want a belt and braces job or an average job. If your not fitting the coilovers, get them changed. Will cost you more if they need doing in the future. If its a DIY job then up to yourself, make a decision on removal?

My top mounts were a bit rough when I removed them, persihed and deformed, that was after 125k with super stiff H&R springs giving them a pounding. New bolts are a good idea too, all mine sheared.

Cheers for all your feedback guys I'll be fitting them myself with a friend Seems like best thi g to do is cjs he them whilst everything is off :D
Anyone know the best place to get them? Euro car parts a good shout?
I have the g60/vr6 clutch/flywheel combo on already mind [B)]

They're about £30 from the dealer :D

Eurocarparts do a set, both top mounts and bearings included. Decent price if you use one of their regular discounts. SKF aswell, the bearings used to make the earth rotate
