Cupra Tyre Pressures

Just checked the tyre pressures on my FL Cupra for the first time since I bought it a month ago and found them to be far higher than the recommended pressures i.e. Fronts were 40psi v 32psi and the Rears were 44psi v 29psi.

Are these just blatently wrong or could there be a reason they have been set so high (I know some cars perform better with higher pressures)?

I havent checked them before as I didnt notice anything untoward other than being easy to spin up when pulling away turning right from a t-junction going uphill but coming from an A3 3.2 Quattro I just put this down to going back to 2 wheel drive and road conditions at this time of year.

Have lowered them back to recommended pressure and see how I get on but just wondering what the seatcupra.net wisdom suggests, tyres are Pirelli PZero Rossos.

I run 33 up front and 37 in the rear. Don't forget the load you run the higher the pressures.

There are hundreds of threads on tyre pressures lol but 37 in the rear is very high. I run mine at 34 front and 33 rear as those pressures suit my driving style, I also use nitrogen to avoid pressure variance

I follow the petrol cap...Front 35 PSI / Rear 32 PSI - 18" 225/40/18

Apparently it's more if you have full house in the car aswell. Works well for me

Thats very close to what I have reset them to at the moment, so will run with that and see how it goes

I've found that when you get new tyres fitted, the fitter usually just inflates them until they don't have a flat bit at the bottom. I've not yet seen a fitter use a proper gauge or even look under the petrol for the recommendations.

Nowadays i check the pressures after I've had tyres done, they've ALWAYS needed to come down.

No I don't mind, 90% of the time there are either 4 of us in the car or 2 and a bootfull of model car racing gear.

Over the last 2 and a bit years i have monitored the tyre wear and the they have worn even.
