the standard cupra r 225 is faster than a standard 182 clio in all aspects except the clio is 0.1 second quicker to 60 and thats it.

so re-mapped cupra r will wipe the floor with the clio

whats a lcr standard torque? and all people who have come up against clio 182 , 192 and type r is yours mapped? i drove my mates type r civic and it didnt feel anywhere near as quick as my mapped lc

Mine is mapped to around 260bhp and similar torque. I expected to sail past the clio but didn't. I don't know if it was modified in any way but what I do know after 20 years of driving is, 'to convincingly blow away another car you need a hell of a power difference' despite what some might say.
I'm talking double figures... especially when rolling as advantages of 4wd (launch) and LSD are taken away and its just horsepower (straight line of course)

LCR's are not as fast as some people think, there are quite heavy and this will show them up against lighter pocket rockets. Im getting an EK9 next, my friend has vids on drag strip of him beating everything from LCR, VXR's and ST's. And its only a 1.6 N/A, but weighs nothing.

Cars like the ones we drive (182's CTR,VXR, LCR ect) will mainly come down to power delivery and driver skill, other than that it will always be quite close (which in my eyes makes it more fun, whats the fun in not even having to try!!)

In all aspects? pmsl. a clio will tear the leon a new one in the corners.

well the proof sits here.
look at lap times on 4 different courses at the bottom.

Duel : Seat Leon Cupra R vs Renault Clio II RS3

this is a very accurate site which takes claimed and proof values and come from independant sources as well as user claimed figures.

as you see a lcr actually rips the clio a new a@@hole but only just.

however the clio is a easy car to drive and you need to "drive" the cupra r but once you master it it is better. but this duel is definately down to driver skill and the size of individuals balls.

Its the long straights that the LCR kills the clio. the extra torque helps massively. On a tight twisty track the LCR doesnt stand a chance. I.E Cadwell.

i agree the clio is a better track car for the more complex and twisty variety but you can improve the suspension on the cupra and it does have brembos as standard and can just about outbreak the clio which all helps in cornering. but back to the original post. a re-mapped lcr = different league. especially when most lcr running a stage 1 or 2 are on coilovers anyway.

Oh I agree the LCR has better potential, But, splash the same money on a clios suspension as you would an LCR, it'll get a much better set up.

i agree in terms of platform and handling the clio is the go-kart type and will always be the better in corners but remember the clio is a hot hatch track car and the cupra is a 4 door designed to carry modern size families in comfort with the performance to enjoy when your cars empty. the reason behind me buying the cupra is for the very same reason. i want performance and a practical car at the same time. all boils down to what you really want from a car.
i will be honest my last few cars i boiled down too was

leon cupra 1.8t (which i bought)
leon cupra r (high milage tho and needed tlc)
clio 182 (too small)
bmw 330i m sport (sold befor i got a look in)
astra turbo (glad i didnt as the turbo blew 2 weeks later)
celica gt4 st205 (with mods 250bhp i didnt like the clutch)
