Hello everybody

i got a 2.0TSI leon with an APR stage2+ re-map and a friend of main sent his ECU for chipping and he`s running a cat-back only

the thing is the difference between the cars is huge he's got much more power

does anybody knows what the things done to the car in re-mapping and chipping ?

Is his the facelift? Think they have different ecu's. New ones have to come out and be taken apart unlike older ones which can be done via diagnostic port.

Pretty sure a remap rewrites the map to the existing chip in the ecu and chipping usually means the original chip can't be rewritten so needs changed to one that can accept the new software.
Who done the chip?

I would have thought the performance should be similar or your apr stage 2+ should be better.
Is this the new apr software?
Or does your car have a problem?

He's not running one of those 'performance black boxes' is he ??

I've read of a few here recently. A box you plug into the car that you can control the level of the performance output by pressing a button, or turning a knob! These are not generally "tuned" to the car, but just have a number of "settings" that directly alter the engine timing / fuelling etc.

Long term they are doing no good to the engine (even IF they seem like the car is alot better performance wise).

If your running a stage 2 APR map then why post a duplicate post in the Revo section?
I'd of thought if you had any questions you'll get more suitable answers by emailing or ringing APR

no, it can be done via the diagnostic port. he`s claiming that chipping can produce more power than re-mapping and that what i saw !

Chipping is for pre 2000 cars and newer anti tuning cars. It's how cars are mapped that can't be done via obd

as i mentioned before his car can be re-mapped but he`s claiming that chipping = more power, re-mapping=waste of money !

A chipping an remapping is essentially the same thing. Your mate is talking crap and if your alleged stge 2 plus car is slower then it's probably not mapped.

The fact that you dont even know who has mapped your car would make me wonder if it ever was tbh

Right there isn't any information about your "friends car"...

Who is the tuner? - If its a custom tune then it is possible but I doubt the car would last very long and more than likely experience more issues than anything else.

Also would like to point out...about your engine 2.0L TSI...I thought there is only stage2 and stage3 (k04) only and not stage2+ because the TSI engine does not require a HPFP upgrade? (Correct me if I am wrong...)

Not heard of any Seats needing to remove the ECU to be re-mapped or even chip'd...

watch the video and pause at 7 seconds it's doing 80kmph at 8 seconds a touch under 100kmph so where do you get 0-100 in 5.7 seconds and yes I am watching the speedo not the digital readout

He doesn't start moving until between 2 and 3 seconds into the video

don`t know the tuner of my friend's car TO BE CLEAR

my car has a K03 not K04 and chick APR's website

he didn`t need to remove the ECU te re-map he claims that chipping produces more power than just re-mapping and im not from UK that`s why he removed and sent the ECU
