After reading this thread I had a good look at my 2004 04 reg FR TDi and discovered rust on the offside front wheel arch. I have owned the car from new, it has never been repainted and there are no stone chips on the arch. The car has always been serviced by Robinsons, Lowestoft main dealers. I will be getting it serviced there in the next few weeks, so I will ask them to look at the problem. It will be interesting to hear why a claim on the anti perforation warranty wouldn't be accepted!

has seat been contected/refused claim.

my 54 1.2 was just starting to bubble up on the front n/s wing. top centre of the arch. with it being ovni i knew id never get a colour match and have to have the whole side painted so i sold it. hardly noticeable, i only noticed it when polishing as i felt the lump.
yet again as someone has already pointed out, late 2004 car the rest of it was still like new though and it had never been painted on the wings. the only paint work done on that car was the mirrors, bonnet (due to stonechips) and the facelift bumper. also i always kept the wheel arches free of any salt/sh!te all year round. i'd better go have a look at the one ive got now tho as thats an 05 so similar age

Is nobody else bothered about approaching Seat and wanting to hopefully get their arches sorted and for free then?
Mymorph has asked people to send general details about your cars to try to get a resolve on this (he's not asking for your addresses) and so far he only has two details: his own and mine. These are details Seat will need before even entertaining the idea of a mass complaint and are details you will give them if you go in yourself anyhow.

Everyone's quick to have a monk and moan but unless you all get on board with this and join together Seat aren't going to do jack, and everyone on this topic who has complained about their cars (regardless of whether you've spoken to Seat and got a negative response or not) will not get this repaired by them under the warranty.

Nothing may come of this and Seat will probably have excuse after excuse, but if you don't try you don't know and the longer people leave it the closer to the end of warranty it will be and the harder for us as owners to prove to Seat that is isn't just because the car is old and badly maintained. At least if people join together now it can go off to Seat and you never know what might happen. I guarantee if more members bother their asses and this ends up with a positive result when Seat see how many cars this actually affects everyone will soon be quick to jump on the band-wagon then.
Get in or potentially miss out is my advice....

I've been looking at mine further and it's not a stone chip. So, I'll be sending a picture and details over the weekend when I'm back with the car! :)

My ibiza is in now for both wings rotting the problem is that there is a foam block on the inside of the wing which sits just on the lip of the arch it collects water and holds it and then wrecks the wing needless to say the foam block aint goin back in:whistle:

Hi Guys

My Ibiza 05 plate has rust on the arches, and has been like that since 35,000 miles. It's just gone over to 50,000 now and it's got a lot worse.

I took my Car to SEAT last year, and again this year.

As far as i was aware the wings were galvanised and it states on both Parkers and Autotrader that it has 12Years "Standard corrosion guarantee" .

They declined this twice stating it was caused by stone chips and it was not a fault of Seats.

I'll attach pictures once i figure out what I'm doing, as I'm useless :)

Can't comment on the previous owners routine. I've only had the car for a short time and since then have given it a decent going over, but it's hard going and still in need of some serious paint correction. That said, it's coming up OK for the time being:

Keep 'em coming. Even if you don't have photos yet, register your interest and send those details to mymorph (post #45 further up this page). :)

i was going to go see them about mine but with it being ovni, i knew they werent gonna pay to have the full side painted so i left it as id rather have a hardly noticeable mark than an odd coloured wing

As above has anyone had these on their Ibiza?

Our Mk4 Cupra TDI has got rusty arches on both sides. We have owned the car since new so are somewhat suprised that this is happening.

I know there is a 12 year rust warranty so will be getting it into the dealers to get it fixed..... Can't wait for that argument

Has anyone else had this and had it fixed?

Does this count if you havent had the car from new as I have just bought a 54 plate with 68k an the rear arch is rusting!! What colour is yours?
