Sorry guys, I've been on holiday for 2 weeks and been busy since I came back. I'll PM MyMorph later.

My claim so far is becoming a bit of a farse. SEAT UK customer services have receved the photos from the dealer and their technician has come to the same conclusion as SEAT (it's paint, therefore 3 year paint warranty and not anti-corrosion). I've asked whether the photos shows the rust to which they've replied with no.

I've requested the photos from the dealer who have been useless in providing me with these. What I'm planning to do is take photos within the wheel arch to prove my point i.e. it's rusting causing the paint to bubble and therefore perforation; they have examplained that under the bubble there's probably surface rust, but that isn't covered under the anti-perforation warranty.

I'm probably not going to get anywhere but I would love to prove thaat their warranty is worthless; I don't see how anyone can prove perforation.

^ yes. The corrosion warranty is for 12 years, does not mention it has to be the first owner. Also, it even covers those who have had repairs before - as long as you can prove that it has been repaired to the manufacturers specification. Proving it has been done to that standard could be the difficult bit.
All the info is located in the service book.

I don't think there's any chance of getting anything done. I've sent my final e-mail away to SEAT now, but I may as well write the reply for them because I know what it'll be! I've mentioned that there are several other Ibiza's I know of with the same problem, for what good that'll do.

For everyone elses reference, below are some photos. I took the arch liner off today to have a look, but nothing of interest is there to be honest.

Tom

i've bubbles right above drivers headlight on bonnet's edge. when I've oppened the bonnet inside is getting worse. I will have to action quick. I like DIY, do you know what is the best treatment? sand it down and paint over i pressume but what to use?

DScape, did you get anywhere with SEAT about this problem. Just that I've noticed this on my 54 Cupra TDi. Went to a dealer today and they fobbed me off with the standard stone chip excuse. Do you still want photos?

I have bubbles appearing under my mirrors on the doors

It's - 57 plate Cupra tdi in crono yellow 50k washed weekly polished monthly

No mate. Got nowhere with my local dealer or SEAT UK. It's not covered under their anti-perforation warranty (which is worthless), so despite it affecting the majory of Ibiza's from the same year, they're not interested.

Thanks DScape. If we band together, is it worth contacting BBC Watchdog and see whether they can help us out? We seem to have a few posters on here that have the same problem.

I have an appointment with the warranty guy about rear arches starting to bubble. Tempted to take the spacers off so they dont find an excuse. The door pillar issue i got done (thats in this thread somewhere i think) is now starting to flake off already. They are trying to blame the wind deflectors for that one! Will let you know how i get on.

Best way to get rid of rust is (if it's just surface rust) angle grind the rust down to 'fresh' metal, prime it all up properly and paint the panel. If it's properly corroded, it's either a new panel, or a case of cutting the rust out and welding a new piece into place, having it smoothed, and painted.

I used to own a Rover 100, b*stards for rust!

Alex.

Well im just off the phone with Seat and the bubbling under my rear arches has been approved to get repaired under warranty :) Also my pillars will get rectified at the same time. Unexpected so I am a happy boy today. Might try some clear wrap on the pillars as soon as they get done to prevent it happening the next time hopefully.

I did take the spacers off so if anyone is planning on going to see about it maybe take them off. Saves them giving you an excuse.

I look forward to the 1.2 Polo i get for a couple of days...

Hi Daz, which dealer did you use? I'm down in Dundee and my 55 Cupra is just starting to bubble too...

I've got a bubble coming on the offside rear arch towards the door.
I'm the second owner with a full service history, 50k 2008!

Specialist Cars bodyshop in Aberdeen. Its right next to woodgroup down Greenwell road in the Tullos Area.

thanks, Hoping you'd gone south rather than north.
I'll visit my local dealer this week and see what they say.

right so I've visited SEAT in Dundee and they've taken photo's of the arches and sending them off to VW... fingers crossed.
Not holding out much hope as they said if you don't have a yearly bodywork check the warranty is void.

Has anyone actually replaced their wings? How much did it cost and did you need to have the bonnet and front resprayed to blend?
