FR TDi Issues

Hi guys

Just wondered if anyone could shed some light as I have had a few issues with the car lately and I would like some feedback before I go back to Seat. Sorry for the essay!!

Its a pd170 and about 2 months ago I stupidly put about a 5er worth of petrol in it (please don't slate I was having a blonde moment) I was told to fill it with diesel and it would be fine which I did lol!!

About a week later it lost all power coming off the motorway and failed to restart after starting once. I put this down to injector failure having heard similar stories on here and from a friend.

I had the recall letter come through so they took it away and before diagnostics just changed the 3/4 injectors that apparently were effected by the fault.

They said they had to clean the fuel system?? and Serviced it at the same time.

I had it back and now its lagging when driving at 30/40mph in 3rd 4th gear its like its struggling and pulling back? Im not very technical sorry..

Iv since had the DPF light come on, and took it for a nice blast down the mway to burn off whatever it was clogging it and its gone off. But this lagging still carrys on?

Does it sound like the DPF causing issues, it never did this before It went into Seat for the injectors to be changed?

It does sound like a Dpf issue!

Mine which is a mk2 Leon fr Tdi does what yours is doing every now and again. It goes Very laggy/sluggish low down the rev range when it's trying to do a re-gen! When it drives perfect the turbo comes in at about 1.500 Rpm's and pulls nicely low down.

When my cars trying to do a re-gen it feels rubbish low down and the turbo doesn't come in till near enough 3000 rpm's..... And it will also stutter/hesitate when the turbo comes in!

Usually though after taking it for a good motorway run in 4 th gear using high ish revs this tends to sort it out after about 5-10 miles of driving like this!

The Dpf filter light doesn't need to be on for the car to be trying to do a re-gen either...... Also my fr idles higher than usual when doing a re- gen sometimes!

I love m car but whoever decided to put a Dpf filter on the pd170 engines is a total bell end lol! Does my head in at times when it re- gen's or tries to :-(

I am just a bit miffed that its only started playing up since being in at SEAT iv had the car since last august and have used it in traffic to and from the city on numerous occasions and its only recently I have noticed this.

I may be wrong but I think the DPF can be removed for a lot less than it would cost to replace if they go.. If there is a way of knowing the DPF is causing this then I may consider it?

You can get the Dpf removed and then get the car mapped accordingly to suit, s.h.a.r.k peformance (google them) do a Dpf delete + remap package! This is a cheaper option by far than a new Dpf all together from seat!

It's more than likely your having Dpf issues, mine does what yours does quite often, it comes And goes, one minute it drives fine and feels very responsive low down etc....... Other times it drives horrible!

If I had my Dpf removed and remapped i wouldn't suffer those issues anymore....... If I was going to keep the car I'd do just that, I fancy Another petrol turbo so the fr Tdi will be going shortly to make way

This is my first Diesel car I was loving it but really driving it around town is driving me mad its horrible to drive I take it out for a nice drive and it seems fine.

If you do drive around town alot, 9/10 times it will be dpf related. And you know you want more power
