That is practically identical to the foam tape that was originally fitted to the doors and has failed. It's proven to cause problems after a few years. VAG themselves changed the seal to the non-setting butyl compound.

Foam tape will just leak again after a while. Don't waste your time with it.

the tube under the seat is to direct air from the front heater to the rear.
