Had my K1 at the seat garage getting services today.

Just had a call from them saying they cracked my front bumper putting it on the ramp!! Bloody idiots!!

If the colours don't match (it's red) do you think I've got grounds to demand a whole car respray?

More than likely not as they only damaged the bumper, shame about the damage but they will only replace a part they damage, if it doesn't match they will have to sort it one way or another as it was left with them undamaged

They would be obliged to match it in i guess. They probably wouldn't pay for a full car respray though, more like a heavy polish up so you don't notice... Make sure you take a bloody good look before driving off when you collect it! My garage whacked my door, destroyed the paintwork on the edge of the drivers door, about 5cm long 2cm wide, managed to cover it up though and wax it etc so i didnt notice until what must be 2 months down the line, now its flaking and i may have to pay for a full door respray... Gonna have a go at pulling it all off and see whats underneath first though!

And the other thing is I bet it will take a week just to get a new bumper then another week to get it sprayed!!

I miss my car already! This poxy little 1.4 FR just isn't doing it for me!

I told them to keep the old bumper so I can see the damage when I go up there tomorrow. If its not too bad then a red K1 bumper may be passing through the bay

Hatfield SEAT. Also want them to keep the bumper so I can see exactly where the damage is. Make sure it was the ramp and not someone going for a "test drive"

its sad that them test driving it is an option!!

I always take note of my mileage when it goes into the garage, i'll take a photo, when i've parked it, and then tell them i know what the mileage is on my car!

Its terrible when you can't even trust a main dealer to carry out the work properly.

least u got told told mate! mine went into leicester seat and came out with damaged bumper and denyed doing it! and then to make it worse when they fixed it they jus bodged it up!

:( thats my local garage (5mins from my house). Hope it all gets sorted out mate. My cupra was there last year for a service and it had a fair few extra miles on it when i picked it up.:censored:

Well I know it's not a nice thing to happen to your car as I would be gutted too.
But the garage has been up front and honest with you which means a lot.
The garage is supposed to road test your car as part of work they carry out.
Let's face it the amount of cars going through garages on a daily basis one or two get marked once in a while you just wonder why it's always yours.
The garage could of tried to get out of it with a smart repair and not say anything but they didn't.
I'm sure your car will come back repaired and looking as it should.
Good luck.

That's a good point about them telling me guys, they could of just tried it on! Looking on the bright side, my bumper did have a few stone chips that I hadn't got round to touching in!

Also when I bought the car, in my naivity, I got it supagaurded. I should get them to do that to the bumper right? As they probably won't if I don't tell them

Im in welwyn garden city.

My local garage scratched the windscreen to bits....obviously using the polish valeting guys who dropped the sponge on the floor then promptly used grit to clean the glass! After the garage trying to say it was from road salt they eventually replaced the whole screen when I threw up a fuss.

I'm sure you will get your bumper replaced and spray matched but I doubt you will get a full respray. Hope you get it sorted though!

is there a reason you use SEAT dealership to do your service?,

i personally would'nt use a dealership for servicing, would rather leave it in the hands of a garage i trust, same goes for warranty work, depending on the problem i'd rather buy a new part rather than the dealer fit a 'reconditioned part' as they usually do under warranty

This is the first car I've had that's had any sort of warranty. I'm perfectly able and capable of servicing it myself. So the only reason I took it there was for that poxy little stamp! Maybe I'll take it to an approved VAG garage next time

In theory it helps with goodwill if required outside the warranty period.
That theory doesn't work either as I couldn't get a warranty repair done on my 20 month old R with 9000 miles on it.
Hence why my next car WON'T be a Seat.
