im guessing these will be for cars without xenon's ?

got any pictures ?

This would be the very LAST Mod I do to my Leon (or any car).
DRLs are chavy. Garish twinkly christmas lights on the front end of the car - that shout "LOOK AT ME! Am I cool or what !?" ........ NOT. ;)

Couldn't care less if its some "government law". Plus its funny how AUDI and BMW are the Two primary brands with DRL's now fitted on their cars - however ironically, they are also the BIGGEST cars we have on the roads too! :D

If you fail to spot a big white AUDI A5 or BMW 5 series comes towards you at a junction (without silly DRLs on), you perhaps really shouldn't be driving in the first place! Take a BUS to Specsavers instead? :)

Next they will stop making Black cars, as these are harder to spot at night !!

No wonder this country is in such a state, when the government (and its european neighbours) have so much time to pass laws like lights on the front of a car to make the vehicle more visible in DAYLIGHT.

Sweeden isn't doing so bad and they've had DRL's on their Volvos for decades.

Remember the 2 series? Those lights just above the indicators were DRL's, they were 21w day running lights. (that's what the brochure called them) clicky

Personally I resent your chavvy comment, my last 2 cars have had DRL's (Exeo and FL MK2 Leon). Ok they're not the LED strips like the Audi's but I have changed the bulbs over to SMD LED's and I think they look cool as well as being a bit safer. I would hate to run someone over again. It happened to me a few years ago (NOT MY FAULT AT ALL AND I WAS NOT PROSECUTED). If it means that people see cars sooner and the driver doesn't have to remember to turn them on it's all good.

I think they're a good idea, don't necessarily need to be LED, but I'm always shocked at the amount of people who don't put at least their sidelights on during heavy rain or at dusk.

When planning to overtaking, seeing an oncoming vehicles headlights in bad weather is very helpful.

Also when the sun is blinding, oncoming cars with DRLs are much easier to spot.

Yes, thats what THEY lead us to believe - having these little lights on the front of your car will mean you wont hit someone, other cars will see you sooner and everyone wont have accidents... They are a fashion statement and nothing more.

Plus if you did run someone over in the past, which you say wasnt your fault, what makes you think with a little line of LEDs the same thing wouldnt happen the way it did before?

HUMANS are the weakest link here, there will always be mis-judgements behind the wheel, or no assessing braking distances, or the road conditions properly - doesnt matter if you had a Helicopter Spotlight bolted to the roof of your car....

Finally, having a higher POST COUNT than the next person on a forum doesn't always make you right. ;)

They look very nice when they are built into the headlight like Audi/ Jag/ BMW etc. However the stuck on strip look doesnt do it for me, especially the toyota aygos!!!!!!!! WTF? Totally hideous

Although the opposite effect of that is the people who think DRLs are proper lights and don't put side or dipped lights on in bad weather.

Nothing like going off topic!!. Anyway I think they are a life saver. I spent a few years in Emergency Medicine and believe me if they save one child on the road they are worth it, 9 times out of ten they never see the car that hits them...

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:PS hope you like the lights they come with inserts that actually fit into the grill rather than on it.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Im with faceless on this one tbh, really really dont see the need to drls, the majority of cars coped many many many many many years without them, why the sudden need?

most kids get knocked over because they dont look properly/rush, if they did they would spot a funking car regardless of tiny led's on them, with regards to seeing other cars on the road, again if people used the roads/mirrors properly you would again see cars with out needing little lights on, when i look in a mirror i dont look for a light i look for a car.

I understand the fact some people are retarded and dont use lights on cars appropriatley but surely that shows that driving test arent good enough and people need to be taught better (also people need to be taught how to drive on a motorway but thats a different rant altogether).

Maybe the people against them are the same people that hate cruise control, leather seats, satnav, DSG, auto wipers and the like. You know, the people that say they don't "LIKE" something as a cover up for the fact that they don't "HAVE" something.

When they get a car with them they will suddenly like them ;)

I used to say that leather seats were a waste of money because they were hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Then I got some and loved them.

Jeez! You having a bad day or something?

Not a mod I would do, (as aftermarket DRLs tend to look a bit tacky, i'd just rewire the sidelights to be on when the ignition is in the "running" position if I was going to do anything) but they really do make cars which have them fitted more visible.

Every car which is type approved now has to have DRLs, so it's not really a debate either...

(Don't agree on the DSG though, Nath. I wouldn't get another car with an auto box, though the DSG is a marvellous piece of engineering, I'd just rather have a manual).

What's the difference between these new ones an the ones that Hatfield Seat have been offering for a while?

Can't post the link cos not made 15 posts!

I don't see what the problem could possibly be with drl's.
Wen I'm behind the wheel of my car I don't even know they are on, wen I look in my mirror and somebody has them, it makes them more visible, especially if they are bright led like an Audi.
With any new safety feature on cars there is always haters, I'm sure the same was said for seatbelts etc, but we soon embrace them as the norm.
With regards to idiots on motorways not using lights in bad weather, at least you can see them in the mirror if they have drl's

Incorrect - our other "family car" has all the above features you state, plus more (not a SEAT). Agree they are all great features, that can make the driving experience more pleasurable.

Plus, being interested in cars and all things related :D there is alot of new technology featured on new cars at this time, that for sure I like the look of.

However, DRL's are one of the few "features" that looks rediculous - plus the silly concept behind it. If I had them on my car, I'd get them disabled (provided in doing so doesn't interfere with the cars primary lighting).

It's nothing personal Nath, I'm just stating my logic against them. ;)

FINALLY - If the whole purpose of these are to make the CAR more visible - then why have they not fitted DRL's on mopeds / motorbikes? These got forgotten about, yet BMW and AUDI get them. That makes sense, forget the most vulnerable motor vehicles on the roads (bikes), but put them on the biggest cars instead. Care to answer this point?
