What next after Cupra

Well I like my R but I just feel that on comparison to my old fr this car is an 8 and my fr was a 10 if you know what I mean.
If my R had the build quality of my fr it would be a 10 but at 14000 miles it's obvious it doesn't.
I'm forever fixing rattles.

I second that, seen a handful of guys driving them, but the majority are women drivers, mostly white TT's, big sunglasses, tanned, cliché.

They're the regular TTs though... I've never seen a single woman driving a TT RS

This is true, yeah I was referring to normal TT's. The RS3 got positive reviews when it was released...but do you wanna spend all that money and still only end up with effectively just an A3.

Tbh the RS3 is a sort of marmite car for me , from an engineering point of view it's fantastic as a £40k car it just blends into the back ground.

Nothing wrong with a TT from a blokes perspective , nice well built cars.

I have to say I disagree about what been said about BMW , they are a dreary drab place to sit ,look at an interior of one and tell me what has changed from 10 years ago apart from some added curves to the dash , no doubt my time of owning one will come one day when I'm in my fifties but not really a younger mans car ,they are always refered to as my dad has one ect.
And the BMW drivers of 3 series and above do have the added stigma of not being the best drivers on the road , Sunday and smoking pipes comes to mind lol

Under the skin you have a weapon - all the good things said about the TTRS in a non :gay: shell.

& larger carbon-fiber front wheel arches, rear diffuser etc . I do agree with you though Al, it's not very in your face and could of been made abit more special. It only gets looks from people who know what it is, which isn't a bad thing at times. I wanted a TT but the otherhalf didn't so ended up with the RS3 as it's got 4 doors as more practical. I do miss the cupra, was just great fun to drive. The new S3 could be good will be lighter and around 280bhp.

I dont think the TTRS is a womens car and it doesnt take much to make it aggressive looking. A drop and some well chosen alloys and a few track inspired accessories would change the appearance alot, leaving no illusions of what its used for. Its hairdressing days would be long gone if i got my hands on one

Totally different type of car here but I tested a BMW 330d today.
The car dove well enough and went very well for a diesel but I found the interior a bit of a let down.

Took the wife for a look at this today and she says that she doesn't like it!
She prefers my Leon and says although the BMW looked alright it wasn't for me she says I'm not that old yet
I probably would miss my Leon as today was the first chance to have a play with no kids in and it does go well. And rattle free again.
Got offered better money for it than I thought to be honest but maybe keep it a bit longer.
There's a nice white scirocco derv in but only a 140

I think you are stuck with the same dilemma as most Cupra owners , what really can you replace it with?
I still fancy a dsg scirocco R 'cue smiley thingy'

On a hole the Cupra is very very good at everything it does and I'm probably more on a downer due to my dealer and Seat UK more than the car itself.

Even at stage 1 it will be doing 0-60 in the 4's, it may cost more to buy but it will be worth more come PX time too.

A map, intake, exhaust, intercooler and uprated HPFP will see you to an easy 350bhp+ and give you 0-60 in the 3's and 1/4 mile passes at low 12's and over 110mph - more than enough.

Have you managed to find an R yet - or have you ordered new? Finding a good example at the right money is proving tricky. I have about £15/16k plus my car to spend. I went to see one at SSC a few weeks ago that was a shed after just 2yrs.

The TTS & TTRS debate makes me chuckle. I love those cars. Wouldn't really give a **** if people said look at the hairdresser in that TT as I floored it and flew past them. It's nice and light too.

And inside it's pure luxury.

I'm actually very tempted and nearly bought one a few weeks ago. I've already done the hot hatch thing - a Golf R is the only hatch that I'm interested in.

After my experience of trying to get a non modified car repaired through dealerships modding a new car with 1/4 mile running gear and mods attached it would almost certainly be in possible to get warranty work honoured.
There is a guy on one golf forum who has bought a brand new edition 35 golf dsg and after a month or so complained to the dealer that his gearbox was playing up , he lived with it , got his car mapped by one the the top 2 tuners (swerves can of worms debate phew !) the gear box fails and VW investigate the car to find said map on his car and invalidate his whole warranty , which is now logged on their database , after some fighting he got his gearbox repaired but his warranty is still void.
PeoPle gamble on discrete mods for warranty claims but unless you have a very sympathetic dealer things look a lot harder to work honoured when mods are

I have read on the interweb that Vauxhall remove the ECU from any car they suspect has been electronically tweeked and send it off to thorney motorsport for them to investigate

I still haven't found anything i can replace the Cupra with, the closest I can get is a Mini Cooper S or Saab 9-3 Turbo, both have issues according to the interweb.

If someone is stupid enough to take a car in to a dealership with a fault on something as expensive as a gearbox with a map on it, then I have little sympathy. We all know the associated risks of mapping a car.

I'm also of the opinion that you either mod a car that is out of warranty or live with the fact your warranty is void as soon as you start tinkering.

That is why I'm looking for a low mileage car, that has approx. 6 months warranty. I'll tune the crap out of it, but can get any initial issues fixed under warranty before I start.
