As a little aside I'm new to CG Motorsport and I am just trying to build our reputation up through the forums. I had worked with Mick and Linda (the owners) before and was happy to come join the team.
We pride our selves on excellent customer service here and all the products are first rate and manufactured in house to the highest standards.
If there has been any negative feedback on the forums I know we'd be more than happy to tackle it head on as we hate to leave anyone feeling disappointed with our service. If there is anything unanswered please direct me to it., so I can do.
If there is anything unresolved it will be becuase Mick isnt aware of it (he's a clutch man not a internet man!!!!) I'm going to try rectify that now.
As a first step to that I am happy to offer free fitting to the next customer that buys a SMF 1.9 TDi kit from us.
I don't think I can say fairer than that, especially as they are the cheapest SMF kits out there!!!!

thats about 2 years on average milage (just over) it is nothing like 1901 laps of the ring is it, lets be honest. there is no way in HELL that clutch would last 1901 laps of the ring

My clutch is with you guys at the moment getting done!
Can't wait to see what the paddle clutch will be like, so far you guys have been really really helpful and informing. The speed of the process so far seems very good.
I will keep posted on how the clutch feels and goes when fitted, should be tuesday!

Hi all,
Just to add some more user feedback to this thread...
I have had a 6 paddle CG clutch for 2 years and 28,000 miles. No slip at all yet! I will say that it squeals sometimes in 1st gear even when I'm not trying to accelerate hard. It did this from day one but I never tried to sort it out, maybe I should have but the garage that fitted it just said it wasn't a problem from them fitting it. Typical!
I have an FR TDI mk1 and it held 202 bhp and 330 lb/ft as dyno'd by Bill at Badger 5. The turbo blew and it is now running about 190 bhp and 310 lb/ft. This is all on the same clutch.
I have a DMF and with the paddle clutch plate finding the bite point is tricky! It seems to change every time I drive it and as a result it does shudder a fair bit if you don't get it right. I suppose this is normal? Maybe CG can offer some feedback, is this why the kits now come SMF? Is an SMF a bit viscous in the TDI?
Overall I would recommend the CG clutch for the money, just wish I'd got it sorted out when new.

Hi Mat, thanks for the review of the 6 paddle kit.
We actually offer the SMF alongside the DMF as a more racey alternative and the need for one over the other is more based on your driving needs, power of the car and drive feel you are seeking.
in short if you drive in traffic and do not launch it constantly I would recommend the DMF whereas if you are a track day enthusiast and want race feel gear changes I'd suggest you take on the extra harmonic noises the SMF transmits and go down that route.
Did you get your new DMF from us at the same time you got the 6 paddle?

I did query the pressure plate at the time as it looked to be the standard spec? how do you uprate the pressure plates to take the extra torque? Or is it just relying on the superior friction plate?

I am not sorry he went to Darkside, and I don't think he is either.
So there is a 12 month warranty on the Paddle Clutches?
Why when we have sent 2 kits back to Mick (owner of CG and Clutch 'expert') that failed in our customers cars did he tell us there is only a 90 Day warranty? Another customers has died in 7 months and Mick told us that it wont be covered as it is past the 90 days. We have yet to see it but the customer is taking it out after Christmas and returning for a full refund.
We only sold a handful of CG Clutches and all but 1 has come back. Since CG did not warranty them, we have paid for new clutches for the customers out of our own pockets.

This is the email I got from Mick @ CG when I mentioned the 20,000 Mile / 7 Month Warranty Claim for our customer.
Not once was this 90 Day Warranty mentioned on any Invoices, Emails or in person.
20k is not bad if you are on the track, as most track cars won't do 20k in their lifetime. But we are talking about £600 - £700 Kits that will be dead in less than 2 years of normal driving.
The main issue to me is not that the clutch dies after 20k, that can be easily and cheaply rebuilt. The problem is that this Ceramic material also kills the very expensive Flywheel and Pressure Plate, meaning you need a complete new kit. This is the same for the Dual and Single Mass Kits. Lets not forget the Labour for removing and refitting again.
As a side note before it gets posted. Mick has 'video proof' that the clutches I sent back for Warranty Claims are in spec and clear perfectly on his test bench. What he won't mention is that you can get any clutch to clear on the bench, by just applying more force to the pressure plate. This does not correctly replicate the force you can apply when the clutch is actually fitted to the car. In the car, you only have a certain amount of travel before the Release Bearing fully out and the pedal to the floor.
