Heard quite a lot of chat about various pipe work coming adrift under pressure. I wondered if there's any type of fixings people are using to combat these issues?

Samco CK 407 or SFS THS223 both kits are the £250 mark for 2 pipes so both the intercooler pipes the other pipe is direct on the turbo and is made by Forge this is £83 or just go the whole hog and stick the FMIC and hardpipe kit on from Darkside developments at £550

250 quid for two silicone hoses?!?! Surely not? I don't think I really need a new inter cooler right now. Only 200 bhp so far.

Screws seem to be a common fix lol

I think unless yours are coming apart don't worry about it

Do what I did if you don't care about air con.
£260 for everything, Intercooler and ALL new piping.
Works a treat.

That's a very good price for all that. However, I doubt it's worth it unless I'm after more power which I'm not. Ok the charge temps are gonna be cooler and efficiency will be increased but not much of a noticeable gain with the standard turbo?

Not if you're doing time inside ;)

I don't believe I'm suffering any boosts leaks, just felt looking into this might be a good ideas as a preventative measure.

Using self tappers is a good option our cousins on Briskoda seem to have a few guys doing this. The standard SMIC they reckon is ok for about 180bhp after that you should look at something a bit bigger

Well, I have done every boost pipe from the EGR to the turbo with self tappers. There all nice and tight and sealed them with PTFE. Car pulls much better now and I mean much better feels like I have gained 20bhp, but of course I haven't.

So excatly how do you use the self tapping screws? Do you actually join the pipes and use several screws in place? PTFE is...?
