Hi all, can anyone tell me how to get the side lights to come on when parked at the side of the road. i mean only one side, if that makes sense. me and my mate did it a few weeks ago but have forgotten how to do it and i cant find my manual. i know we did something with the indicator but we cant get it to do it now. confused.com

thanks

really? i'm so trying this tonight. girly and I walked past a porsche t'other week that had only half its sidelights on and remarked what a slightly geeky little feature it is (along with how massively a 911 stood out in our part of town and that neither of us would go leaving one parked like that)

11 plate SE 5 door: works on mine too. As biker said, cars have been doing this since the dawn of time ;-)

Apart from moving the indicator stalk, I'd there anything else I need to do because I tried it twice tonight and it didnt work.

I turned the car on, put the indicator on and then turned the car off and locked the car and still nothing happened.

I then tried the same but with the sidelights on and it still didnt happen.

Is there something I'm not doing?

Turn ignition off, remove key, put indicator on.

Done.

(Checked in the manual, as like you I thought you'd have to have sidelights on or something first)

i think it only works on car with twin bulb headlights?
I'm not sure as i've only tried it on twin bulb cars with auto lights, but when i've got a single bulb ibiza i just leave the headlights on when parking on the road at night so it switches to parking lights.

Correct - and you get the anoying lights left on warning when you open the door to let you know you have done it.

Now I think about it, what blackmagicibiza said is quite true, you hardly ever see cars parked up with one set of sidelights on; certainly not around my neck of the woods.

I wonder if the habit has 'gone out of fashion' over the years, like furry dice and 'Kevin & Tracy' sunstrips?

Whats a Kevin and Tracy sunstrip -_- ?? lol

Now you're making me feel old

Green piece of plastic across the top of the windscreen with the names of proud owner and girlfriend, tastefully written out in white sticky lettering on top of it.

Ask your dad, or possibly your grandad if you are depressingly young ;)
