Ring SEAT UK (0500 222 222) & ask for Caroline.
Giver her the TPI and tell her it isn't the first instance you've heard of people being denied this warranty work.
She's very good, can't big her up enough. She'll get you sorted.

If you read here (linky), it'll give you a bit more info!
They're talking :censored: if they tell you it doesn't apply to the UK, that is 100% certain.

My replacement soundproofing has now been on 2 weeks, and there is mould around the edges already.:(
On the same understanding, what's the point of a warranty if you can't make use of it? :)

Thanks for the advice mate. I will give it a go :)

I agree with your other point as well. Will be making sure to voice my concerns over this as well.

I'm going to be removing mine after winter - its starting to go abit manky now so i can only imagine after the bad weather spurt (although its been nice so far) it will be a poor state.

is it painted underneath or is that something id have to get in and get done?

I just did away with mine after i realised it was rubbing top of airbox and more and more mould was appearing, and as a mechanic i notice alot of cars don't have a lining.
water does now drip onto standard airbox (2.0 tfsi) but it is minimal even after heavy rain and washing. i keep an eye on it and havent yet had any water go into cylinder 1 coil (because this one is a little exposed) the airbox protects most of the engine but i would imagine without standard airbox all your coils and whatever else would be exposed to water.
mine is painted on underside of bonnet and engine heat hasn't affected it at all after 2 years and about 20.000 miles and hopefully it'll continue not to

hope this helps!

i think next weekend, when i come to do my winter protection ill have away with it and wax the under neath.

i have a neuspeed, so my coils are exposed but then so are many other owners.

This is an easy and cheap fix guys.

You need to buy a bag of scuttle clips, Part No. 6L6 856 575 - the same used to hold a door pillar moulding on a Mk4 Ibiza. The original clips do not have a rubber seal on them so water can leak through. Over time it builds up in the lining and causes it to go mouldy and/or sag. I'm sure mine had a rare funghi growing on it.

If you remove the lining and unscrew the black window washer panel you can easily fit them yourself. 10 minutes and you'll be leak free for life

In answer to a different post - the underside of the bonnet is not painted. SEAT too tight to shell out for 5ml of paint it seems

Not quite correct. A slight error with the part number, it should be 6L6 853 575. This was SEATs' solution to the problem in 2008, it didn't work fully then and won't work fully now. It will stop the water leaking through the holes for the clips but there are also drain holes in the bonnet recess, the revised clips won't stop the water leaking through them.

I had mine done under warranty. The fix is about 80% successful, but its better than it was.

I'll sort it a bit better my self.

Although they refused to replace the felt itself.

Cheers

Lee

Had mine replaced yesterday under warranty, along with a new scuttle seal. Time will tell if it works.

Mine's now getting mouldy with the rain recently. Right above the engine cover as well, so some of the mould has lightly transferred where they've touched.

Noooo, all i can now visualize is you under bonnet doing sniff test...:D

I scraped a bit off using my new fingernails (see previous nail biting thread) and then sniffed it. I didn't taste it though..................................yet.

Think I may remove it. Is the under side of the bonnet painted etc?

Does it make the car more noisy?
