Was just doing abit of searching through a few threads and people are saying a standard cupra 180 should be boosting up to 10 psi. My boost gauge is telling me I'm boosting to 20 psi. Will someone explain this? Or as my car secretly had a re-map in past owners life. :wtf:

If its hitting a peak of 20psi it is running a stage 1 map! Consistent boost should be 15psi

I thought it was quite a nippy car. When I bought it from a garage they didn't mention it having a stage 1. It's staying at 20 psi does that mean its over boosting? Or could the gauge be reading incorrect?

Just been out and checked it exactly and it does drop to about 18 psi. Cheers for that fellas. Well at least now I don't have to fork out for a stage 1. :D

many stage 1s peak at 20/21 psi but dont usually hold at that.

8-10 is stock.
stage 1 remap aftern 15-18 with an initial peak 20-21.

Bang on ... mine doesn't spike that high as its been mapped properly... hits 18-19psi then stays at 18psi till about 4500rpm before starts tailing off towards 15psi.

Yeah that is true. Don't Realy know anything about re-mapping to be honest. But to be honest I don't think i would go for a stage 2 anyway. It's annoying Realy were would I go to even see what performance it has? I'm in Preston. What bhp should my car be producing think I've read 210 correct me if I'm wrong.

Mr OCD your tellin me my car as been mapped by a bodger? Would it have bad effect on the engine and Turbo in the future? I guess I'm gana have to take it to a specialist when I have some free time.

Not necessarily... I'm just saying that boost spikes aren't a good thing.

Get the car on rolling road to check fuelling and boost curves and make sure its safe.

Snap, my map runs similar, hit 19.8 peak once, and that was after fitting sports cat & downpipe, then after a few weeks seems the ECU adapted and pulled it back to 18.5.

I'm not sure what modifications my car even has. Thought it was totally standard till now. They come standard with a double pipe backbox don't they?

Yep they do ... maybe take engine cover off and take pictures and also of exhaust - can give you some ideas of what has been done.

Either way RR is what you need next.
