That looks as though they have physically replaced your cambelt and water pump only, there is also a hydro damper that ideally needs changing while doing the cambelt change and while its all stripped off you may as well change the auxiliary belt and tensioner which doesnt appear to have been done. Do you know what water pump was used plastic or metal impeller? When was this done btw?

Fair enough.

But I don't understand how the "kit" is so cheap - does it include the tensioner(s)?

And it looks like you've been charged for only c. 1.25 hours labour - it's a 3- to 4-hour job

BTW, new-generation OEM plastic impellers are fine because they're now made of a composite material that does not decompose/break-up in coolant fluid, which was the problem with the original version.

Plastic impeller is better for engine efficiency because 1.8T's coolant flow rates etc were designed for a lightweight plastic impeller, not a lump of heavy brass.

Oh I don't bloody know I'm just going on what I've got receipts for its in the service book water pump and timing belt changed was done in 2009. I'll get belt done this year again and get anything else changed that needs doing.

Only thing I can think of is they gave him discount and just charged 1.25 hours labour. I'm just going on the stuff I have its got full Seat history and the waterpump and timing belt is in the service manual and there's a receipt was done at 50,986 miles

Have I missed something? Or is this really just a random thread about a receipt?

Nar you haven't mate someone was asking about price for water pump and timing belt I said how much I had a receipt for some people didn't believe me and wanted proof. Hence me putting up the receipt

Why start a new thread ?

More sense to have posted pic in the original thread

Thing is if tensioner hasnt been changed 9 times out of 10 its a seized tensioner that courses belt to snap, may seem like a cheap job but can turn out expensive if not done properly

Jesus christ so I started a new thread and should have posted on same thread. Shall i be executed at dawn. I'll look at getting the pulley changed I'm bored justifying myself now.

Lol - Ben450 just make sure you get the necessary bits looked at/changed and all good.. Another LCR kept on road :)

Didnt mean to come accross like that but good advice given by ppl & in long run could save your engine & alot of money

Dealers get parts at a very cheap price so the kit would have been about £50 to them, this will include a belt, tensioner and idler roller.

The hydraulic damper is rarely changed as it adds nearly £100 to the bill plus aux belts and tensioners also drive up the cost.

Book time on a 1.8t belt swap is circa 2.7 hours with the pump.

If anything fails its more likely to be the belt on one of these or the damper will start to weep and become weak.

As already mentioned - new generation OE water pumps seldom fail.
