How would I be able to tell if my dpf has been removed by taking it off the car, opening it up, removing the Insides and re-welding it then refitting it to the car?

I had My old pd140 decatted and after that I could smell a rich diesel smell from the exhaust when the car was ticking over, I also have a friend with a pd170 Leon with the jbs dpf delete and his smells the same.

I don't think my car has a dpf delete pipe on, well I'm pretty sure it hasn't but I'm just wondering if it has had the dpf removed differently for warranty purposes maybe??

Or do all the Leon pd170 smell like that when ticking over?

This is the only thing that has led me to think maybe??

Thanks

Yeah I know you will be able to see the dpf straight off the turbo but what about if the dpf has been removed, the insides taken out then refitted with the sensors, then it would look like a normal dpf?? Maybe?

Surely the big black clousds of.soot would give it away???

That doesn't mean the dpf hasn't had the internals took out. Itll either have had a square section cut out on the engine side then re welded so ull not be able to see it, or the top part of the dpf will have been removed then rewelded. Mines been done but doesn't throw out big black clouds of smoke

Depends on mapping, Generally anything over 210bhp will throw out smoke on the OEM turbo

220+ any your in illegal smoke limits

As said above , get the car on a ramp, look over the DPF if its been chopped you will see it.
