Don't be to quick, just clean it, they tend to get sooted up but a clean sorts them out no bother.

Recon turbo fitted! What a massive difference this has made to the way the car drives! Lovely drive now! It spikes at 24psi now instead of the occasional 35psi! However, it seems to pull better than it did before. Hopefully back to Bill after a few snags! Also did a new dmf (which is a bit dodgy, going to VW garage on Monday) Nice soft clutch pedal, and with the OEM dogbone mount, all the shudder pulling away has been eliminated too!

Cool, over boosting as I thought, a good clean usually sorts them but as long as it's all good now.

I wanted it done though because the seals were 'on their way out' as there was a significant amount of blue smoke coming from the exhaust. My original plan was to clean it, as Bill and I came to the conclusion this would be the easiest thing to do, but £222 later I have a fully working turbo, and can achieve 195+ with Bill's magic. Well if the seals are gone that's different, knackered seals could lead to a knackered engine.

No idea on your clutch issue.

Got a mate at work, and he thinks his turbo is dieing, i said do it before you break other things....
Putting a new box in on monday!
