Guys, I'm planning a trip to an animal park that has a drive trough monkey section. Any ideas how to prepare for it? I've got a mk Leon. I'm going to remove the rear wiper and try to take off the aerial... How would I secure the windscreen wipers? Any other ideas?

What can I say- its a very tricky situation :D
Our cars have windscreen wipers vertically, though monkeys are used to horizontal.
I`ll recommend to check out weather for this trip and remove wipers on that day.
Wrap wiper arms with something to avoid windscreen damage...??
Borow another car, maybe

I've seen cars wrecked on these trips, I'd recommend the bus tour (if they have one) unless you are good at buffing out scratches and replacing every bit of breakable trim. They also **** all over.

Our local safari park (Knowsley) has a monkey enclosure and you can either go through it or go round it.

Apparently the monkeys have worked out how to open roof storage boxes too.!

I remember i went to longleet when i was a kid, the trees were full of number plates car ariels and window wipers and there was everything from spare wheels to bumpers scattered all over the road, i really cant understand why anybody would drive through one

Hahaha, I gotta say you guys are making this sound terrifying from a cars perspective. A blunt weapon may be of some use. I was thinking of getting the missus to drive, that way it's a win win for me, but she's only got a small car and not very comfortable on long journeys. Erm...think I might tie some ribbon round the front wipers and close the front doors on it, just in case they get on board. I'd love to walk through it but that's not allowed.

Stick some nuts under your scuttle panel, that'll keep them off your car ;) lol

That's actually a pretty good idea....providing they don't get in the way of me driving through it....maybe I'll see if there's a way I can do that on the rear of the car. Smear the valence with peanut butter or something.

If I remember correctly if you turn off the engine (but keeping the electrics on) and do a manual wipe on the front ones they only go down and stay at the bottom of the window screen, you could then cable tie them together and pull the fuse out makes it easier if you did need them... Monkey beating cable ties... I don't think so!

Or coat the car in WD40 and watch the buggers slide off lol

Or a better option maybe would be to take your car for a service and get their Courtesy car lol

Ha ha.. it sure sounds like a fun idea but I wouldn't want to risk it with my car, to be honest with you. I have been to one before but we were a group in some sort of a truck surrounded by metal all around with some holes in order to give the monkeys food if you wanted or something. It was a really nice experience but those buggers are really playful and might cause more damage to your car than you'd think.
