We should be like the USA where rear ones are compulsory but front is optional. Fronts may be the law in some states but I know cars in Florida only have rears
...on second thoughts, maybe 9x3 is a little bit too small ha ha
I was worried about getting a 16x4.5" plate and it being noticeably smaller lol!
Anyone got a 16x4.5" plate on th front? Pics would be good! Or does anyone know where I could get a slightly reduced plate (not quite as small as 16.5x4.52??)
Never been pulled as its only a little bit smaller. But small enough to not look stupid, and small enough to be noticeably better.
I cant remember the sizing exactly as its been on 6 months, but i removed the standard plate, measured the plastic bit behind so i could make it just big enough to cover it all up.

For personal reg im also a bit stuck on what digits to use, name is josh obrien so i was getting Jxx OBR
Unsure which looks best if anybody wants to give an input, im thinking J12 OBR, and before anybody asks none of the digits available have any significance ie d.o.b etc

motorbike plate = illegal, MOT fail and therefore 3 points if the copper who pulls you over is a pr*ck.
you can make your plate smaller with a hacksaw though, as all you need is 11mm around the edges, like Jarre's above.
my mx5's plate is offset to the far right and a small square

What proof do you have of this?
I logged a car with the ugly square plate then did the same car with the normal plate and inlet temperatures are definitely affected with an obstruction (square plate) in front of the intercooler.
Got the square number plate and the number plate tape from Halfords. All ready to go, jus need a warm dry day to wash the car and stick it on now lol. Any suggestions as the best way to do this?
The way the number plate is going to stick to the bumper, only the top half will be touching the bumper, is this enough to hold it on securley with number plate tape?
