Can anyone recommend a fault code reader/reset device other than Vagcom? I've seen a few handsets around £20-30 that claim to be universal but no info on whether they can clear codes or not?

What version you got fella? 11.11.3?

Is it straight forward plug install play?

Yes thats the version. Plug and Play on Windows 7 32Bit. Just make sure the internet is not connected while using it/

@richicupra, which phone do you have as you can get the ELM Bluetooth ones

I bought this last week, just to clear an airbag light:

(Put "Vag Scanner Code Reader For Audi Volkswagen Seat Skoda COM CAN Airbag SRS Reset" into ebay)

Worked perfectly. Not needed to use it for anything else yet.

Its bloody awesome, I understand where the lads are going with vagcom etc, but for what you need, this will be adequate IMO, even with vagcom the codes can come back, and likewise with this, but I love it, you can do more than just engine, like abs etc

I've got a Vgate VS450, it allows you to read and reset all generic OBD and VW group specific trouble codes and MIL lights; it costs around £45.
