Its pretty easy:

Use small self tapper screws ( Dont bother with the pop rivets that are supplied with the kit {If you bought from dealers}) to screw the plastic trim bit onto your original valence ( or a new one)

Then mark out the two cut outs for the exhaust, just draw straight lines from the "arches" on the new trim piece. Then cut them out using a jigsaw or a stanley knife with a saw blade on it. NOTE: This does not need to be accurate whatsoever because the diffuser trim is glued on top, hiding everything.

Then put a bead of silicone/ adhesive ( Tiger seal or similar) { supplied in the kit if bought from dealers}) on the top edge of diffuser trim and bottom edges of the original valence, then put the diffuser trim on top and clamp together or hold together with tape!

EASY!

Then get it sprayed gloss black .....

Then bolt on a Milltek and enjoy!!! BRUUUUUUURR

Did you get this sprayed by a bodyshop or did you do it yourself?

Only reason I ask is because I am about to do mine and wanted to know if it's easy to paint yourself or if you had a bodyshop do it roughly how much it might cost.

Cheers.

i paid £100 for mine to be painted

That's a bit rich for me at the moment :( thanks for getting back mate.

Tempted to tackle the painting myself and if it goes awry then get a bodyshop to do it but I'm not sure how easy/hard it would be to make it look spot on.

Had it sprayed at a bodyshop mate, cost me £55 if I remember correctly. Another place quoted me 70 which I still don't think is that bad either.

£55 hmm that's a price I could probably stretch to at the moment to make sure it's done right, just wanted some ideas of how much I'd likely be looking at.

Think I will make some calls and see what's what.

Cheers guys :)

Body shops make up their own prices mate, some will charge 50 for a job and others 150. It depends on how much they think their services are worth, I know people say you pay for what you get, but the dearest isn't always the best especially in this area!

Yeah I think you are right, I am going to try and get some more quotes at the weekend and hopefully find one that I can afford right now providing they look like they will do a decent job and will guarantee the work.

You should be able to get a pretty good finish with rattle cans, its not hard and inexpensive , ( I'm showing off now)
I painted this with 2 tins of white and 1 red then to finish it off 5 coats of clear, all bought from my local motor factors for less than £20

Black should be a doddle,

I hear what you're saying and you look to have done a nice job there but I don't trust myself to do a good enough job, plus the part is already in the spray shop as I type this message :)

This looks really good! So you have to cut the current one anyway :/?

Is it for a 2009 onwards but fits a Pre-facelift ?
I assume it must be fitted with the twin centre exhaust although one of the avatars above looks like it works with the twin BTTC style.

Yeah you'd need to be fitting the twin exit, doesn't have to be the standard system obviously there are other places that can offer a similar setup.

If you are talking about the diffuser in Smee's signature that isn't the standard cupra r diffuser, you can see from his sig it's the Lester version.
