New owner of a 06 altea 1.9 tdi

Hi everyone
We have just bought a 06 plate seat altea tdi.
We Love it as it suits our family needs.
Wonder if anyone could answer a few questions.

When i lock the car off the remote none of the indicator lights flash ! Is this normal on the altea's ? All my other vag cars and the wifes 08 ibiza flashes the ambers. Was just wondering if they all didnt ?

Second is a question im sure has been asked before and a google search had me going round and round. My car hasnt got the trip computer mfa option on the stalk. Is there anyway this can be retrofitted using a stalk or anything else off a model that had it in the first place ? I didnt really do my home work and to be honest didnt realise the car had no mfa when we bought it lol

Would love to keep a track on the mpg !!

Any help with either of the above would be great

I have just checked my altea shaped 05 toledo 1.9 and the lights flash at lock and unlock. No idea what the problem might be unless there is a way to program the lights not to flash?
I am no expert but i believe the multifunction display is more complicated than just changing the stalk and reprogramming.

Try searching google for "central locking lights do not flash vag" - seems to be some info in the forums. Talk of faulty door switches etc. i assume the locks still work ok - if so, perhaps just live with it!

To get MFA you'll likely need to change the steering wheel control module, a wiper stalk with MFA buttons and lastly your instrument cluster.
Is it possible someone has just changed the wiper stalk for one without buttons thus you can't get the access you need?

I swapped out the cluster for one with a full size screen from a Leon, it isn't plug'n'play as such but not hard with the right tools.

As for the lights not flashing, you may have a door/bonnet/tailgate sensor at fault - on my car if a door isn't shut right and I lock with the fob you can hear the locks but the lights won't flash.
This can also be deactivated in VCDS.

I'd try find someone with VCDS and get an initial scan, it will also inform you of what SWCM you have as well.

Im in the north east not far from durham.
I will have to try and get it on a computer.
Mine has no mfa and no steering wheel buttons. I did a bit of looking about and i think where you would get a mpg reading etc mine just has the time.
I will upload a pic of my clocks if you dont mind having a look ?

In regards to the tailpipes, no pics sorry. But a bit needs chopped off so if you get one make sure you'll be 100% happy as there's no going back!
