Hi there,

After what feels like a long wait my new Leon is being delivered tomorrow. I took out the PCP to get the £1240 dealer contribution and free servicing. Also went through Drive the Deal for extra money off, and as this was all sorted over the phone there apparently has to be 14 days between the finance documents being signed and delivery. This is all fine and just means I need to speak to the VW/SEAT finance people after delivery tomorrow to keep within the 14 days withdrawal period.

So I know there is a contact number on the docs I have, but I do remember a couple of posts sometime back regarding problems actually speaking to someone.

Are there any of you kind people who have gone through this process got any better telephone numbers I should try to make this a painless experience?

I've just ordered an FR on a contract hire with SEAT.

I had a query re the agreement and gave up after half an hour on hold.
 
Yes, that was me, had a nightmare getting through....

But then, I rang the Audi finance number, its all part of the same company...phone was answered in a few seconds! Maybe just luck but after pulling my hair out with trying to get through, Audi worked first time!

Also, make sure finance is paid off within 14 days. I paid mine off within 4 days and it cost me £6 in interest. If id gone over 14 days it would have cost more like £180, so bear that in mind!

After 14 days, you would have to pay 60 days interest plus the final settlement fee...dealers try to get you to make a couple of payments befoe settling.....ONLY because if you settle within 14 days they dont get their commission of £300 or so!

All done about an hour ago! I was on hold for about 25mins but when I got through it was a completely painless experience, so easy in fact that I'm pretty sure the girl I spoke to cancels agreements daily. I owe about 7 pounds interest and will transfer the balance in the next couple of days.

Definitely worth the little bit of effort to save over 3k and get 3 years free servicing!
 
The offer may have ended but I'm pretty sure you could still negotiate this if you physically go into a dealer. The 'service plan' form I signed off was fairly standard and just had £0 entered.

I’ve been looking at DriveTheDeal as possible option for my new Leon. Were you happy with the experience – would you recommend them?

They do seem to offer a good deal, they come in at £2500 less than the best (discounted) quote I've had from dealers.
If I did order from them are the dealers you get introduced to usually open for further negotiations (i.e. free servicing) Or at that point are you legally bound to proceed with them?

I’m interested to know about cancelling the finance. How does that work exactly? You go to DriveTheDeal get them to proceed with ordering. Do you tell them you want finance or do they just put you in touch with the dealer?
I'm surprised that SEAT gives you money off as a finance incentive, and then allow you benefit from that even if you subsequently cancel the agreement.
A couple of other questions:
1. Do you have a link to T&C’s of the finance agreement?
2. How long do you have to cancel the agreement
3. When does the window of opportunity start, i.e. is it when you take delivery of the car or when the dealer gets it?
4. Does anyone know if doing this impacts your credit rating?

I found drive the deal to be very professional, although my dealings with them were for no more than a day as they put you in direct contact with a dealer who will sell you the car at the price advertised on Drive the Deal. This is a good thing as all your money dealings are direct with the dealer as opposed to a broker.

I'm not sure you will be able to get more extras via negotiating but worth a try.

The dealer I dealt with was far better over the phone than any I have dealt with in the past face to face!

All the finance documents were hard copies so no links I'm afraid.

You are given 14 days to cancel the agreement and the dealer will say they can only deliver the car 14 days after the signed date on the finance docs. My docs were signed and dated the 6th May, car delivered on the 20th, cancelled finance that evening. However the lady I spoke to said the finance was all loaded onto there system on the 17th and I had 14 days from them to cancel so I need not have rushed!
After cancelling you then have 30 days to pay for the car.

I have no idea about credit status I'm afraid.

The only issue I have is that I dont seem to have the correct control stem in the car to turn on the auto rain sensing wipers. Just emailed the dealer so we'll see what there after sales is like!

I had it delivered free, or driven, so had 120 miles on the clock when it arrived. This was preferable as would have been a good half a day to go and collect.
 
Hi thanks for the reply, it is starting to look like quite an attractive offer. I'm a little concerned with the dealer sitting on the car for 14 days. What happens if the car is delayed and you go over the 14 days?

What would that cost you extra, could you still pay the balance off immediately or are you forced into monthly repayments?

I had similar concerns about the car being delayed so I made the dealer check the car was in the UK and on route. I then confirmed and setup a delivery date, then back dated the finance docs as agreed with the dealer for 2 weeks prior to delivery. So by the time I posted the docs back I think I waited 6 days for delivery.
To be honest the whole process was very easy and stress free. I would definetly go down this route again.
At the very worst I think interest accured at £2.55 a day and if over the 14days you will need to pay the settlement fee of £60 I believe.

So in reality I order through DTD, I will then be contacted by a dealer with whom I give my spec and options. At this point I state that I want the PCP option, presumably the balance will then be reduced by 1k. Then I have a long wait while the car is built. Will the PCP agreement be sent as soon as I order the car and I just sit on it, tell the dealer that I will sign and date as soon as delivery date is confirmed?

Pretty much right, the dealer will order the car based on your initial deposit payment. They took finance setup details with the order over the phone, but the dealer sits on the finance until the car is confirmed built and on its way. Only when I phoned the finance company to withdraw did I then find out it had all only been setup on the Friday before the Monday I took delivery!

Due to myself feeling a little unsure like yourself, I firmed up a delivery date before signing the finance docs.

I think they rang the Audi finance number instead :

You do have to wait a while. I went to saynoto0870 and got some alternative numbers but they all seemed to go through to the same place in the end. I stuck with the seat number and did get through after about 25 mins. But when I did get though it was worth the wait as the girl I spoke to could be more helpful and honest.
