Currently drive a mk5 Ibiza and due to buying house with partnr resided to get joint car so looking at Leons as more sensible than my Ibiza or her polo but we need an auto as that's all she can drive.

So I would have a 2.0 tfsi dsg but wouldn't be economically viable I don't think and she will kill herself lol thus looking at the 2.0tdi and seen one locally but thought would check on here first to see what they like....

So any good??

Honestly love mine mate. Has a great kick when the turbo kicks in. The mk2 looks stylish too. Have had no issues with it and had it over a year now.

I went from a mk5 1.6 TDI to a mk2 2.0 140 (one of the facelift CR ones) and it's great.
Way better than the Ibiza, im getting better MPG and no DPF lights.
Also nicer to drive in traffic, the ibiza was always very jerky, basically first gear was too fast in start stop traffic, doesn't seem to be an issue in the Leon and the build quality is much better than the Ibiza with regards to rattles.

I do miss diesel tbh loved my old tdi megane I had for while and looked at stage one figures and looks like I could get around 180bhp and 270-290 on the torque so would be perfect I think.

One I have seen is a 2006 model on 91k though but up for 5500 which would mean a straight trade with the Ibiza by looks of things just miles are high want one with around the 70 mark if got a 06 so belts have been done

I love mine mate, not had any problems. With a remap there even better!

Looks like I am sold lol will be contacting finance company tomo to see what I can sort with them and go for drive in a few leons i think

Stick with 2 cars fella, bad Craic sharing a motor

To start with I will get Dsg and we currently live 5 mins walk from her work so she will walk to work and then sell her polo and once we saved bit more money will get her a beetle next year so won't be joint for to long just easier if she can drive my car and I want Dsg anyways so best both words

PD140 can suffer a porous head

The PD140 will map to around 170-180 with a few mods and with a few more can see 300+ (GTB Turbo required and injectors amongst other things)

Revision A and B had problems. If you buy a 2006+ car you seldom see the head issue.

I would say it depends what you are coming from, I did this a regretted it kept the car a month or so, I had mine remapped and it did make a difference but not enough for me to want to keep it.

What year car would I be ok with don't want a big engine bill as although I'm a mechanic I like to get others to do major work and services for the proff in the history.

And I had a 318is e36 then went to a slow as f*** 1.4 mk5 fiesta with a whopping 85bhp lol so anything will be quicker

Deffo see a diff then, the only down side is that there is no pull in 1st or 2nd, Petrol is the best all round, how many miles you gonna be doing to justify the TDI.
