Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I can't seem to find anything about it on the Seat website.

I was wondering if it is a fitted system or like a stand alone TomTom style satnav?

Just wondering if you could fit it into the phase 1 MK5's if it is fitted because the dash is basically identical.

It is the same portable media system (made by Garmin) as found in the SEAT Mii, Skoda Citigo and VW UP!

I don't think it can be retrofitted as it required the RCD 215 head unit, which the regular MK5s don't have.

The only Ibiza it has been shown in so far is the Cupra concept:

Quite a good video here showing in action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovZlyDTIp2o

Navigon is Navigon, not Garmin?

Also shown in the Mii

Not yet seen in the UK - but I think it's going to be about £250 when it is

Hmm that does seem a good price, be good if they could make it work with mine! :D

I know you can fit double din units into the Mk5, but they all cost a fortune.

Pretty sure that the only feed between car and satnav fitting on the present car is for power. More than that is needed for the Navigon so I doubt it could be retrofitted.

Probably a different dashboard fitting will be offered for the Navigon.

Yeah that was my thinking also. The Navigon unit integrates quite tightly with the trip computer and radio.

Still think its a shame the actual radio slot doesn't accommodate the VW double-din units though, that's one of my biggest gripes with the Ibiza.

Yeah the Ibiza is crap for entertainment/navigation

A simple person like me is pretty pleased with it. I like the idea of fitting a cheap TomTom or similar without trailing wires where it can be speedily removed and stuffed under the seat. You don't then have to buy a system from the car maker for hundreds.

As for the radio/CD I've got no real complaints. I find the ability to fit about 10 CD's on to one MP3 disc pretty good and 4 x 25 watts is plenty for me. Thought I'd miss the ability to use USB sticks but I can live with the MP3 discs.

Don't think I'd like to do without the rear speakers though and changing programs/tracks without the steering column remote would be a pain.

Got my FR from Seat approved used and only realised afterwards it had the bluetooth kit which includes the USB connection!

Only tried to use it once and the pen I used errors out after like 20 minutes of it working for some reason. Never bothered trying to use it again xD

I've just shoved in an after-market bluetooth kit linked into the standard head units AUX input and run everything from my iPhone, works OK but sound quality not brilliant.

I'd prefer the remote to be on the other side, or buttons on the wheel. It's too close to the radio where it currently sits.
I'll admit I'm a bit of a geek, so the Leons system is much more appealing lol :) but yeah its not the worst, and at least the sound quality is pretty good, well with rear speakers is it... drowns out the rattles and squeaks lol.

can you get other gauges for the system or is it just the 3 that come as standard? i dont see the point of the rev or outside temp ones as i can already see them on the dash

No, those are the only dials you can get unless they add further dials in future software updates. The only useful dial is the oil temperature which isn't in the instrument panel, the others are just to fill screen space and entertainment for passengers...

The others are there because the system was originally designed for the Mii (and Up/ Citigo) which in base spec derivative have no rev counter so the nav screen is used instead

I don't think you will get a boost gauge on the portable system because the Up/Citigo/Mii don't have turbo's and neither does the 1.4 Toca for example in the Ibiza. Unless the system could intelligently decide what gauges it could offer of course!

I doubt well be that lucky, I wouldn't even mind paying an aftermarket company a few quid for it if they created an app thatll do the job but I'm sure it'll be a while off yet
