As above there anyone who has the serial cable, computer and the vds software near Oxfordshire who can enable the comfort window closure by remote feature.

Vcds doesn't allow this option. However there's software called freeware software called vds which you have to use in windows dos and using a serial to obd cable. My laptop doesn't have serial port so can't use cable.
Anyways once you have the two you can program the car in dos. Maybe I will invest in the bits and start offering a service.

Get a serial to usb converter pal, cost around 6 quid I think from maplin

I did this on my mk4 FR years ago. I used a KVW100 and it was only about £20 back then.

It worked on mine, and have been using it every day with this weather! So useful for clearing that initial blast of hot air from the car before you get in. Unfortunately I am not 'near' Oxfordshire 
The cable's £8 on ebay, USB converter won't work with VDS-pro as you boot into it pre-windows (runs its own OS) so doesn't even see USB emulated com ports.
I can send you the software to burn to a disc if you PM an email address.
Then there's the small matter of having a laptop with a serial port...
