Hi,

I have purchased a set of 4 alloys from a 2012 Seat Ibiza FR. The alloys come with almost brand new tyres but I am not sure if they will fit my 2011 Ibiza Ecomotive 1.2tdi.

The seller was unsure about the sizes of the tyres but after checking for me he has stated that the alloys have two different tyre sizes at the front and the back.

He is not sure why but the first set has: 215 x 40 R17 and the other two are 225 x 45 R17.

The question is will these alloys fit my car and is this normal for tyres to be different sizes on 2 axels. The wheels are getting delivered in next few days :(

The four tyres should all be the same size, 215x40 R17 is the correct size for the Ibiza.

If it were me I would fit the wider tyres to the rear of the car and provided they don't rub, you shouldn't have a problem.

Would the 225mm tires fit onto a 215 rim or not. I am just wondering if its just the wider tires or if the alloys will be wider as well on the back axel. I am happy to buy some new 215 tires but not sure if the alloys is going to be the same size as the front or not. :(

Thanks for the info. :)

I doubt the alloys will be different, you can get a 225 tyre onto a standard Ibiza rim. If you have any concerns when you get the new wheels look at the inside of the wheels on the back of the spokes, all the wheel size data is stamped there.

Should get the wheels on Tuesday and lets just hope the alloys are the same width :). The alloys are getting plasti dipped next week as well so will post updates on my progress.
