Going down the route of 7inch or 10inch Tab build (if I can make it fit) Sick of my Philips flip and Raspberry pi now, not doing what I want. Two wrongs not making me a right..

I currently have the single din console but looking at chopping it up and building a tab into it. Anyone else created a masterpiece? Post your custom builds here! Thanks!

i'm really interested in this too if anyone has done it please put up a few snaps :)

After a bit of research this afternoon, I need far more than a 7inch tab and a bit of glue lol

My shopping list for now;

1. A Tab (Samsung galaxy tab 2.0/Nexus 7)
2. A cheap 4 channel Amp
3. Volume control/equalizer (optional)
4. Copius amounts of speaker/RCA cables - GOT
5. Resin + Fiberglass - GOT
6. Filler - GOT
7. High Build filler and paint - GOT
8. Centre Console

Sell; Philips Flip and Raspberry Pi

Can you not use a tolly V5 double din? Iv just got one in I'm thinking of breaking and putting the double din and sat nav into mine! But the car may be a bit too good to break....

Why not a Tab 3? I know they're a bit more pricey but it'll keep you more up to date for longer :)

Was thinking of getting the tab 3, but I don't really see much of a difference plus for what I want even a tab 1 would do. Got a Tab 2 coming my way pre 1pm. Hoping the spare single din centre console I bought is coming today also, so I can start chopping it up. I'm not forking out for a double din if I can help it.

After much reading into this, I want to do some kind of push panel for it, so it sits flush to the console, but if you push it, it 'ejects' so I can slide it out. Decided I don't want it to be a permanent fit.

Also do need a double din fascia but I can't seem to find one anywhere! Wondering if this needs to be moved to a project section..?

How desperate are you?

Well hard to say just yet. Waiting on single din console to appear to see if that can be butchered into a double din. If not I will be looking for a double

Seen this option quite fancy something like this if I can't manage a push button eject syle..

Thanks loads mate. I would buy one anyway if you had one...something tells me it will be far easier

Failing to believe no one has done this already.

Anyway, updated shopping list..

1. A Tab (Samsung galaxy tab 2.0/Nexus 7) - GOT
2. A cheap 4 channel Amp - GOT
3. Volume control/equalizer (optional) - Not bothering
4. Copius amounts of speaker/RCA cables and connectors - GOT
5. Resin + Fiberglass - GOT
6. Filler - GOT
7. High Build filler and paint - GOT
8. Centre Console - GOT
9. Magnetic push damper
10. Hinge

Bit of progress, thought i would test - wire it all up see how it is. The amp is a Kenwood 4 Channel pushing out 4x60/90wrms. After cranking the sensitivity up full, the speakers just take a beating, sounds awesome, wish I had got a better amp now . Very much needs dynamatting though.

Ripped a section of brown bread in the passenger footwell to fit the amp in. Ripped out glove box and centre console ready for butchered one..Waiting on delivery of the console, fascia and dock now!

Looking forward to seeing this in action, haven't seen a Tablet install like this before but have long thought it would be a great idea... specially with the likes of Spotify etc.

Regarding the pop in/out thing what are your thoughts?

Would you be able to use a standard tablet case in reverse/butchered? Not sure if they do it for that type but some of the more rugged cases have a snug fit and it would just be a case of fitting that into the DIN space then sliding the tablet in?
