Hi guys
I have a 2.0 leon TDI and have ran into a massive problem, was told its a boost leak but had a look and all seems fine, but when the turbo kicks in I get a really loud wine noise, but the noise is coming from the actuator I think the bell looking thing on the bottem of the turbo, you can feel the vibration through that but not the turbo,

If this is the problem then new turbo it is then I guess?

Next thing is if this is the case, where can I get a turbo from as iv been quoted £700+ for a new one, not so confident with eBay, can I fit a different turbo on or bigger or hybrid and what would be the cost or does anyone on here selling a turbo?

If any of you guys can help would be a massive help for me as I only have a week left to fix it

Bump :)

Can the actuator be replaced? And what is it? Os it just like a duno valve or something?

Cheers mate I will have another look, can I notice the leak with just the carbon idle or will it need to be revved to make the noise? I'm guessing it's only a pipe from the turbo and into the intercooler then back out of intercooler and into the inlet

U will need someone to rev it yes. Maybe a split or something silly. Don't rev the balls off it but give it a boot full on and off a couple of times.

Ok sweet cheers for your help mate I will give this a try and

Just got back from the garage
A number of things but I'm not even sure the garage knew what they was doing, firstly they cannot find the problem, checked the turbo and it's fine, changed the waste gate and still nothing, checked for leaks but can't seem to find any, then he said he could hear like a spit sound coming from my RGR valve then my air flow sensor :/ I'm so confused

Check the manifold flap, gaskets and seals around the charge pipes where the soft pipes fit into the hard pipes.

I'll be interested to find out what this is as it sound like the cousins problem. His car makes a shrill noise as it comes on full boost about 2000rpm. He doesn't give a stuff so I haven't checked it out. I had it pegged as turbine fins on turbine housing so I'm quite surprised that you turbo is fine. But you can't always be right I suppose.

I can see this being an almost strip down :p I'm going to try my luck with a good friend of mine tomoro who built the engine in my show car so fingers cross he might be able to find something, if not then I will do what you guys suggest, I will take a few things off and check on there condition and someone told me to check the cat aswell so I will do all these over the next few weeks and fingers cross we can find out what is wrong with it

Had the guys come out to give me there opinions and they went straight to it and started off with the smaller possibilities and still nothing then they started to eliminate stuff from the turbo and still try the car and still nothing till in the end we was left with a manifold and turbo with nothing else connect and still made the noise, we they narrowed it down to the turbo, they then back up there theory by taking a look at it and got a camera in the turbo to show the destruction  yep it's defo the turbo that was faulty so I'm setting about getting it reconed as I'm not buying a brand new one for £750 or a beat second hand one for £250 lol

Now that the turbo is coming off is there anything I can do while it's off and I can get to the back of the engine for example any mods I can do to performance or Eco or change anything you guys recommend changing while I'm there?

There's other guy's on here know more about dpf and egr deletes than I do. Things I would check for are serviceable items like vacuum lines and that are ok. Just replace anything that needs attention before you can't reach it again.
