Knocking noise when starting and decelerating

When I am accelerating and take my foot off of the pedal, there seems to be a knocking sound coming from underneath the driver's feet area.

Equally, at the same time, when I start the car up, there is a loud knocking sound as the engine starts up.

I have no idea what this noise is, but does anyone think it can be an engine mount?

Many thanks,
Chi

Sounds like the dogbone mount.

One garage I went to said that it might have been that. However, when they had a look, they said that it looked ok?

I had it fitted by AMD back in May/June. If it is indeed this, I will it back and let them have a look at it.

Anybody else with a different diagnosis?

Does it do it in every gear and in neutral? Does the noise disappear when you dip the clutch?

If it does disappear then it could be the flywheel but that's more of a rumbling/scraping sound than a knocking.

It only happens when I ease off the accelerator pedal or when I start the car.

Might get another garage to have a look at it on Wednesday.

Anybody else is welcomed with their opinion.

Garage had a look but could not identify where the noise is coming from, so I'm at a loss as to what the problem could be.

Short of taking it apart and analysing every component, I don't know what to do?

Can anybody help?

If it helps, it doesn't happen once I'm up and running and the car is moving (roughly over 15-20mph). There is an obvious knocking noise when starting the car (when it is a cold start and when the car has warmed up). This noise is felt under the driver's footwell.

put car in first gear while holding your foot on the brake, keep your foot on the brake and let the clutch up slowly and get somebody to see how much the engine twists

id say dog bone but itll only be showing cause the torque under deceleration will be alot more than a guy rocking the engine will ever be able to make, even the starter motor can twist the engine like a goodun when cranking,

cheep and easy enough to replace the bushes are £20-25 quid online seems people go for the diesel one (red) as its slightly softer than the petrol(yellow) equivalent

I've got the red dogbone bush and I think its miles better than the yellow one that I had in my previous Leon.

Popped over to AMD earlier, and indeed, as some of you mentioned, it was the dogbone mount.

Since having it fitted, it had managed to work its way loose, so AMD applied some loctite and screwed it back on. Hopefully, this will sort out the problem!

Many thanks for all the help!
