Is anyone else having issues with their mk3 steaming up?

Took half an hour drive today and the car still had not completely demisted even with the air con on
Plus the day before we had a hard frost and the windows had frozen to the seals and would not open due to the condensation on the inside of the top window seals

I should add for clarity we have had a lot of rain and I have been getting into the car after being out in the rain, but no different to what I have done before on many other cars including my mk2 leon and none steamed up of had the amount of condensation that my mk3 seems to have

I used to get this on my Mk2 Leon, and also on my Exeo.

Switch the vents to the footwells and then turn the air system off before turning off the engine the day before.
It should reduce the amount of moisture getting into the cabin?

Good suggestion
Although my issue may be a bit more than that would cope with
Its so bad if I wipe just the front window I have to ring the water out the towel before doing the others
The other thread terry kindly pointed out lol:D never really got any where so wondered if anyone found any issues

I've checked for damp but nothing on the surface, but after putting the hose on the car I think the water is getting under the sound proofing and under the carpet via the door seal

I know some people have had seals replaced due to wind noise
If air can get in then so can water

There has got to be something wrong mate. I started that other thread but mine was just a really stubbon fine mist. All but solved now with a blast of the ac and switching to recirculation before turning off and a bit of anti fog.

I have the shitty door seals being replaced Monday but they would not get the carpet wet.

You think so? I have always found it does more harm than good.

Every time I have tried this I always get a messy, 'smeary' mist when it does start to appear, it does seem to stop it misting up as fast but I always find that the best solution is to just keep the inside of the windows as clean as possible and NEVER 'wipe away mist' as it just makes more of a mess and next time the mist starts to build up it will be 10 times worse.

Don't get me wrong, I swear by rainX on the outside of my windows, so much so that I prefer it to Dodo Juice glass sealant. But for the inside I just think your best to keep the car as free as moisture as you can (Throw wet coats/jackets/gloves etc in the boot), when you get a nice dry day crack a window for 5 mins when you go for a drive and when you have a car full of people tell them to hold their breath LOL. A warm damp car will always get misty windows when its cold outside, the warmer and damper the worse the problem....

I tend to leave the aircon on too. Advice I saw said over 5 degs C leave on all the time. I don't go that far but when we are in damp conditions like Autumn and Spring when there is a lot of moisture in the air, I leave it on and have not been plagued by damp windows which I was before taking this step.
Before anyone says about worse mpg, look at the convenience indicator and calculate the cost per hour. It's about 35 p per hour or less. A bit cheaper than straightening a bumper when you couldn't see clearly through the screen.

In fairness it's climate control and it does well if you are auto to just regulate the tempreture unlike Air Conditioning of old that would just blow cold at the same rate until you truned it down of off.

It seems to use a bit more juice to satrt with to bring your temp up/down to the range you have set it at but then barely any from then on as it just regulates it.

I have barely turned mine off since I had the car LOL. Anyway, an air-con/Climate control system that is used often is a system that har problems rarely :D

Agreed. Air Con/ Climate must be used at least fortnightly or else the seals are not lubricated by the refrigerant, the seals perish and then leak the refrigerant and then you have no aircon and an uneconomic repair

I've heard about this before. Just curious, do you know if it needs to be used at a particular temp or power or is just having it switched on sufficient to stop the seal issue?

Just run it for 15 -20 minutes fortnightly and that should do it. Set it at 20 degrees and that's be enough

Yes. The screen needs to be super clean and you need two coats.

Mine seems to be noticeably better when the climate control setup is in 'strong' mode. I suspect the dehumidifier part of the aircon doesn't function without the chillers being on. In the interests of science I'll be doing about 200 miles tomorrow with the temp set to low and will post back if its any better on friday morning.
