Updated Bushes Question

Hi all

Hung over Sunday; doing a bit of research for future mods.

Looking in to uprating bushes as above. I'm not sure what I'm looking at, in terms of product quality.

Can I have your views on what makes you've tried and tested and which makes you prefer?

Also, some advice on materials stiffness if pos.

Powerflex bushes if you're considering them. My local independent only replaces worn bushes with nothing but Powerflex as they have had nothing but great reviews from them.

As my driver side console bushes are shot, I'm getting these to stiffen up the front end up and to compliment my new Whiteline Rear ARB!

I have powerflex black series bushes, very responsive and precise steering now

I had powerflex on my fabia vrs, same bushes as mk4 Ibiza and the only problem I had with them was one of the console bushes ripped on the outer edge when I snapped a wishbone at the point where it inserts into the console bush, this was due to massive potholes in a layby, apart from that I would rate them highly and have fitted them front and back on my mk1 Ibiza, all depends on how hard you want them as superflex do really hard ones, I bought some superflex roll bar bushes for a fiat siecento sporting front arb and ripped the skin off the palms of my hand trying to slide them round the bend as they had no give in them.
Just my tuppence worth.

What are people's opinions on the super pro bushes?

Just noticed that the dog bone engine mount bush for example, is £20 more expensive than the power flex one.

What's the reason for this, which would you say is the best value for money? Not interested if the product is just 'good' for how much it costs. More interested in the quality of the bushes.

I've seen so many people take these out after getting one as it rattles the car to bits, literally keys jangling it's that bad.

I've recently changed mine to a powerflex dogbone bush and I can't rate it highly enough. Vibration is a little bit heavier but it feels good. Gear changes are fantastic now and it really sticks to the road.

Yeah I did notice you had done yours dan (neat trick with the jack ! ). I guess you did a bit of research before purchase... What made you go with the red bush and not black series? Was it purely due to the red one stating it's for Diesel engines?

I went for that one as it was for road use whereas the black ones are for all out and out track day usage which I imagine would be like the super pro ones = hard! haha

So it sounds like it's the powerflex way or no way lol and a case of personal preference in material stiffness.

I've got superpro dogbone mount and never found it too bad tbh. It was firmer at first but one of the best value for money mods I've done. 4 years on it's allowing a bit more slop now though. I've also got the Superpro front wishbone uppers (the smaller ones), no problems there either. I've got Powerflex rear beam bushes, they're a bit boneshaking.

I had the full superpro kit on the Cupra. Obviously ride comfort was comprimised but I liked the feel of the drive afterwards. Dervs will notice more vibration due the nature of the engine.

Remember though that Chino has a petrol not a diesel which vibrates no where near as much mate

Good point Dann, should mention I'm running a APR Stage 2 20vt, not the TDI engine.

... And I do have a tendency to drive in high gears when going to work coz I think the less money I spend getting to work, the more I make haha.

As said above mine is a petrol, so can imagine it shaking your teeth out in a diesel. Also brought the superpro f & r front and rear anti lift kit, castor increase basically. It works by an off set centre in the rear TCA bush, pulling the arm down at the back giving you castor increase, seems to have worked tbh, get less wheel spin for sure, may be good for a torquey ass diesel like all you diesel nutters on here have. Again ride comfort is a compromise compared to standard, but its hardly that bad.
