BTCC LED running lights

I've got 8 Led's ( mine look very similar to the ones posted last nite ) but only going to use 3 per side + have my Drll2 thingy + about 20metres of wire!!! My main concern is i want them to look as OEM as possible, i think done right there a great addition.

Ebay eagle eye drl. £15 for all 6. Then use drlr 2 kit to dim 50% when headlights on.
 
:pOk might have been a bit harsh with my last post.
must be getting too old for all this extra's stuff!!!

Even when off they look like they are oem. I had new tyres fitted and all the staff came out to take photos of the lights. Even my 70 year old mechanic loved them and said you'd never know they weren't standard
 
I'll post pic's tomorrow got it done in about 4hrs, the wire from the fusebox to the engine bay was a pig to do as its behind the battery...

they look so OEM.

Also BIG thanks to MJ who got my boot pop working to day.its such a cool mod to do....

What u mean the plastic cover that covers the LED's ? The front done bit?

I've got 2spares...I'll keep an eye on them then Jake, I had some Vag-com stuff coded on Saturday by MJ ( james ) and he told me he'd b doing some work on yours latey...
 
He tried to code my back lights in but wrong module in my car. I gave him the coding for the boot pop last week. That's a good mod too. Use Octavia hatch struts though.

Yeah the plastic dome bit came off two of mine already. I bought spares also.

- 3w eagle eye running lights x 6 from ebay cost a total of £7.50 -£15 depending if its a uk seller or not.
- 6 x large washers. One for each light measure vent holes. From memory I think I used around 25mm
- pack of red bullet connectors, min of 15
- pack of speaker cable or similar min of 10metres
- Genlabs drlr 2 to dim drls at night (ebay 9.99)
- blade fuse piggy back connector, ebay under £5
-small cable ties to keep it all neat.

I think thats it from memory

Well i'll not be doing anything else now to my car until my 19" Ac Schnitzers ( with mint tyres ) sell, theres just nobody buying alloys @ the mo it must be due to the time of year:cry:

I keep looking @ them and thinking theres mk3 climate control upgrade, my Eibach sportline springs & my Dpf delete + stage 2 remap:censored:

Wife says NO MORE spending till I shift, to quote her "clear that car stuff out of the cellar"

Women eh, they just don't get that fella's like to stash car stuff for ( you no one day I mite use it!!! )
 
As you will see in my picture I have retrofit drl's powered by the genlabs drlr2 however due to a leaky skuttle panel the relay has got wet and no longer dims the lights. I have tried to order a new one but because of a total of 43 people allegedly not receiving their item genlabs have been forced to stop trading due to losses. They have been subject of fraud as people were waiting til day 59 out of 60 before reporting the missing item without even contacting the seller meaning ebay always arranged a refund due to time scales etc. It seems a good company have gone down due to dishonest people trying to save 10 quid.

Either way the problem is I now need to find an alternative relay that I can wire in the same way. Any suggestions

This is rather ironic as I had the same problem therefore I have made my own DRL dimming module using the same method and for the same price (for £2 extra they will be sent recorded delivery so no way they can go missing in the post!). Drop me a pm and I can get one in the post to you this week as they are ready to go! It's virtually identical although mine are called 'Inlustro DRLM'....full instructions are also supplied although you know how to connect it up anyway!

Hi, that sounds great. I have just asked a mate to look into making one for me as he is an electrical engineer. If he doesnt have any luck then I will definitely consider it. In the mean time can you send me a picture of one. Im guessing it operates exactly the same and dims 50% so will be a straight swap with the 5 wire drlr2
 
It's identical to the one that has failed due to the water....same number and colour wires too so really it's a straight swap! Let me know if you want one as they will be going on eBay soon and they will sell quickly...just ordering more parts so I can make an other batch.
 
Turns out my drlr2 had not actually failed but the splice clip to the sidelight had come loose and broke the wire. Repositioned and all sorted. Recieved the item from rob today. The only disadvantage to the drlr2 is that the inside isnt sealed in resin and the resistors etc are exposed from the underside of the casing. To prevent water contamination I have actually purchased a kinder egg and put the relay in the plastic tub. The relay fits into it very well when shut and the wires can be connected after being placed through the hole. Works a treat
