Unknown Power Gains

I bought my 1.4 sport (100bhp) in July, and it's been an absolute dream since. It had been modified by the previous owner, although i bought it from a garage.
The obvious mods are:
Coilovers & shocks (currently @ 25-30mm all round)
Powerflow exhaust

On a very quiet night drive from London to Birmingham recently, i decided to give it some welly, and see what i could get out of the engine without it falling apart. I managed 130mph, and all the specs i can find online state 118mph as the top speed, and that was when the car was new.
It also sets off like a cannon, haven't timed the 0-60, but it feels pretty rapid.
Any ideas what could be causing these gains? I'm planning on taking it to a centre soon to get an accurate bhp reading.

Only thing I can think of is a remap, but I don't have the facilities to check for it!

I don't think your gains on a naturally aspirated car will be too much even with a remap. You may have gained a few horses with the exhaust. As for the top speed I doubt the speedo at that top end is acurate enough. Try a sat nav and I assure you your speedo l read higher than a sat nav read out.

Should've mentioned that it was with a sat nav, which is why it suprised me!!

hmm maybe it could be then. i was always under the impression that sat navs are more accurate than speedos hence why speed trackers are always done by gps. i still doubt it could reach that speed though as the gearing is no different. could be wrong though. have to get it rolling roaded and see what bhp it is. personally i think youll be lucky to have even 10bhp than standard without alot of work.

Sounds curious. Out of interest what cars have you had previously?

Only a 1.2 Clio before this mate. Unless it was glaringly obvious, i wouldn't notice if anything had been changed in the engine. Need to improve my engine knowledge!!

The reason I ask is basically to see if you had any prior experience to gauge it against.

Who honestly cares what it does top end? You can't use it without the fear of losing your license.

Don't think that was the point though matey, as I completely agree and I wouldn't dare go that fast. Nothing to gain and it would be scary as hell. All about how fast you get up to speed imo.

Is bizarre though.

Yeah mate, i'd have never done it if anyone else was at risk, and if it wasn't 2am in the morning. Hence the private road ;)

But yeah, i'm just curious to see what you all think could be causing these gains, because I really can't think of anything.

Off-topic, but I don't suppose anyone knows the part number, or has a photo of the 1.4's airbox? Only reason i ask is because my is sitting off at the front.
