Hello all...as i prepare my Stage 1 AUQ for Stage 2.......been told to expect 240-250 bhp....is it the general opinion on here that this is a safe power output for this engine regards the connecting rods etc ?

Stock rods safe to 280 hp . Unless map has big torque spike should take 300 hp but dont risk more .

Well the figures i was quoted are on condition i fit a CAI, FMIC, 2.5inch exhaust with sports cat and TIP. Thats from Midland VW in Cannock.

It is ...

If you used a decent open cone like a jetex and had a decent exhaust with no cat then 240 is possible but I wouldn't worry about numbers, a nice smooth power curve is what you want :D

Interestingly,a few weeks ago i put a genuine Honda s2000 filter on and the engine didnt like it at all...put the standard airbox back on....

Standard air box will probably be better then a CDA, there are tests on this forum to show how restrictive they are. You won't beat a nice open cone like a jetex IMO.

I've been away from this forum for a few years so know nothing about a s2000 filter but I'm guessing its a paper cone that's designed to fit in a air box and not a filter that's designed to be used as a proper open cone? Is it paper? If so it must swell up when it gets damp and being in a hot engine bay this time of year it will get damp.

My opinion is keep the standard box or upgrade to a jetex or apexi open cone (I used apexi on my AUQ Leon) with a nice big air feed.

Mind you, i suppose its all a load of guesswork regards intakes as there dont seem to be any before/after hard facts out there to rely upon. The only facts i can find are that most CAIs are vastly overpriced for what they are...thats my opinion anyway....

There is a post somewhere in this forum that says nothing but good things about the s2000....and yes it is a paper filter.

Yeah .... Just like there's loads of posts saying that the forge 007 valves are a must have upgrade over standard :D

Common sense says use something that's designed for it's intended purpose but that's just my opinion.

Keep us posted with the actual figures you get, I'll be interested to see what the end result is.

Off topic, I thought the reason people recommended the 007p was due to the fact that in the past Forge used to supply the service kits for them for free. This is no longer the case so I suppose people have just kept them just to avoid having to change them out again.

-NGK BKR7E 1 degree colder sparks
-4 BAR FPR (dont use one when your car isnt mapped to it)
-SFS Overbore TIP
-3" Downpipe / 200cpi sportscat
-2.5" Stainless catback
-Blox Intake Velocity stack filter
-BAM Racing phenolic intake spacer
-ASH FMIC
-PCV / n249/n112 delete
-Proper fuel! Im driving with BP Ultimate (RON98) and in the summer with an extra 5L Bio Ethanol E85.
