Hi,

Has anybody had any experience with these?

For my 170 CR Sport Tech ST...lots of different people offering them, wandering if:

- They're any good?
- Will do as they say
- Won't knacker the car and
- Anybody have recommend companies that supply these?

Cheers

Jamie

The guys over on Briskoda seem to like the DTUK tuning boxes. Lots of satisfied people with them. Personally I'd want a proper map over a tuning box, and IMO I'd go for REVO.

Thanks Guys,

Looks really good....

Was thinking if I do this a Tuning box might be the way forward as the car is so new it's in warranty and wouldn't a REVO affect that? With the box I can just take it off right before services etc.

Also, with the REVO Remaps, when a car goes in for a service, don't they see if the car is running the latest software and update it and knock off the remap?

Cheers

I'm sure your ecu would need to be removed to allow it to be remapped, which would affect your warranty, Factor in that you can transfer the kit to 1,000's of other cars and your £s in

Yeah your car would require ECU removal. Most tuners replace the anti tamper bolts so a dealer wouldn't know. However, I believe they can be detected, and also if your cars software is updated then yes, you will lose the map.

Tuning boxes are cheaper (than REVO anyway) and can be removed, software changed for other vehicles, or you could sell the tuning box, you can't sell a remap!

Thanks guys really appreciate the help.

REVO maps that I've seen in the past (I did a couple of with an old friend were just plugged straight into the OBDII port) they were on older PD Engines about 4 years ago, so have no idea if the newer ones are any different but as I understand REVO have a special relationship with VAG?

I will be COMPLETELY Honest here and say ref the Tuning boxes I've been looking at the £80 odd quid ones before this conversation, which is why I only mentioned the boxes because of their price point.

So what's the difference between them cheap ones and your ones Andrew? They all seem to make the same claims? Ref power to around 210-225 and 400 odd torques etc.

As for yours I'm going to have to wait a few months (don't want to finance one) but if the quality and guarantee of the Map is better then obviously it'll be worth the money and yours would be more than £100 better value than a Revo map..

I guess it'd be nice for you to outline the pitfalls of the cheapo ones for me and anyone else that might come across this?

Cheers

whats the difference between and REVO remap and a cheap £150 out the back of a car?

Its the quality of the kit, and who else supplies dyno graphs to back up their claims on their websites? :)

If you looking at £80 boxes then best of luck :) as youre buying rubbish

I was being Genuine and Polite about it Andrew.

What would you say is 'Rubbish' about them though?

Do yours have a map in them you can trace back to a Tuner or did you originally tune the cars to get the Maps you then put on these boxes?

Do yours have better quality circuit boards in them? Or have you found yours have specific waterproofing or anything the cheap ones don't?

Do you have any bad stories about the cheapo ones?

I'm trying to just understand why the difference in price point Andrew that's all and like I said, I wouldn't want to risk my car on a cheapo box it's that ALL the ones I had seen previously were around that price and didn't know a more 'premium' one like yours existed...which is why I'm asking for your advice.

I understand REVOs are the price they ask because they take the various cars and engines Audi, Porsche, Seat, VW, Skoda etc and tune them themselves at great cost and then sell the maps off of the back that work.
