What did you and your MK2 do today?

I don't need them but been keeping an eye on them on there for a month or so, tempted to buy them but they've been that cheap for over a month so will hold on lol
Its a lot worse than the diesel mate, i'm lucky in that mine isnt a daily. Put it this way i have a pretty comfortable lifestyle and i would grudge using this car as a daily, it wants to be driven hard and when you do (which for me is a lot) the fuel economy is horrendous
Be prepared to double your fuel costs
Double your road tax
Double your insurance
BUT
Triple your smiles per gallon
The question of fuel economy always seems to come up when people look to switch from what they currently have (normally diesel) to a petrol Cupra/R
If you are honestly bothered then stick with what you have, if you always have one eye on the petrol gauge there really is no point in owning one.
I personally don't think it is bad but then I've always had petrol and couldn't really care what mpg I get, that's not the reason I bought the car.
My figures would be.
Steady driving off boost = 35+
Hard driving 15-21
Normal driving with the odd squirt 25-30
You're unlikely to want to drive the car in such a way that you get the 35+ constantly, so in real world terms I'd say daily you'd look at around 28mpg (dependant on the trips you take)
Everything your saying is true, it would be my only car so it would be my daily car. I'm 23 I don't drive my car hard. If I had something like this and I ******** pulls up in a S3 wanting to show off... I'll let him because I have nothing to prove lol. But everyone tells me you only live once and when you decide to have your own house trying to fit something like this into your budget could be a bit difficult.

Only way you'd get that would be if the car was being transported on the back of a wagon lol
Had 39.9 out of mine on my way to work one day, I was really early so decided to try and hypermile just for giggles, gutted I didn't hit 40.
I then went home a little less efficiently
I had my first cupra when I was 22. My point is that if you don't drive your car hard, why buy a faster one?

They certainly don't drive them with mpg in mind.
I don't mean that they are pinned to the redline every time the key is turned, but I'll wager fair money that they don't cruise around constantly in 6th gear either.
People that opt for these cars do so because they like to enjoy the performance that comes with it, which means giving it some pasty when you go out every now and then.
If I had no intention of driving my car hard at any point why would I have paid the extra to get such a powerful car with all the extra running costs that go with it
might as well just have gotten a more modestly powered diesel car.It's like a single person buying a house with 5 bedrooms, you're never going to use them so why pay a premium for it???
Because they could kidnap 4 homeless people and keep them held captive in the 4 spare bedrooms?
