Can you buy the headlight units (bi xenon with drls) that is an optional extra on ibiza's?
I want them on my fr 1.2 tsi

Yes pretty sure you can. Go on the seat accessories website.

Sorry think I'm getting confused. There is the the Philips LED daytime running lights, but not the led headlights the ones you are talking about.

You could try asking the dealer where you brought the car from?

Aftermarket ones are still sitting at over £200 a pair - http://www.carparts-tuning.co.uk/Li...t-Daylight-Seat-Ibiza-Typ-6J-Yr-08-black.html

OEM xenon headlights are usually £250+ EACH - then you need the rear axle sensor for the auto leveling etc.

The aftermarket ones are for prefacelift only, and as for the OEM units, the auto levelling is only technically required from the factory, you can fit them after without the sensors and they will still work, and you would be unlikely to be pulled up on the levelling.

Until the MOT where the self leveling and the headlight washers will be checked even if you self fit the xenons

Having had xenons on my last two cars, I can tell you that they don't check those systems at all, as I was advised seperately when I had a failed washer jet as it's not a part of the MOT

I'm pretty sure the washers are part of the MOT, if they are fitted they must work but if they are not fitted you get your MOT!

That was my understanding too, but when I MOT'd the car in January I was told that they don't check the headlight washers, only the windscreen ones! Thought it was strange, but took the tester's word for it!

Hi Andy

Halogen require manual levelling adjustment, so you can manually lower the beam when car is loaded. Washers are required with factory fit xenons so they are kept clean to prevent light scatter of high powered xenon beam due to dirty lens.

I get that, what I mean is why isn't manual adjustment sufficient for all lenses, and why don't halogen lights need washers if xenon lights do.

Seems strange!

I was told it is just down to the power of the xenons / HIDs compared to halogen.

I think you MOT tester was being kind to you mate. See below taken from the MOT manual.

Well, I'm not complaining, saved me a few quid!

Interesting to note that it does say "if" they are fitted, not that they have to be, meaning that you can have xenon/HID without them and still pass an MOT
