DTUK tuning box

I was all ready to buy a CRD box as well as it sounds like they do give good performance benefits for the price but don't want to chance voiding the warranty if I ever have issues with the engine or box so I will be putting this on hold for now :(

I know I can remove the box itself, but can't ignore the fact that dealers might be able to retrieve data that would suggest the car has been run above standard.
 
I took mine off last night as the car due to go for some warranty work tomorrow. Just drove about 20 miles in it and the difference is so massive it feels like the car is only running on 3 cylinders! I love this little box of magic!

I've had mine off recently as well and can't get over how quick you get used to the extra power. The stock isn't slow, but it doesn't give you the kick up the backside it does with it on.

Incidentally mine will be for sale shortly as I have to get rid of the leon for a company car - anyone know if they can get reflashed for other VW vehicles? My brother in law has the 140TDI in a passat and he's interested in taking it off me.
 
Worth getting in touch with andrew. IIRC they can be reflashed at a price and you may need to buy a new wiring loom.....

You'll need a new wiring loom at a cost of £50 plus vat to cover the 140, and the software is free of charge
 
Ordered mine yesterday lunchtime. Got a phone call within half an hour from Andy to inform me of a tweak to map 4 to fix a judder in higher gears that some people suffer from. Arrived first thing this morning and just fitted it to my 184 but haven't had a chance to take it out yet. I will be very happy though I'm sure of it. Top notch service for what I am sure is a top notch product.
 
Too right about the level of service, never dealt with a company that goes so far out its way to make sure its customers are happy.

Seriously tempted to get one of these boxes when my FR arrives :) my only concerns are about the dealers finding out that the car has a tuning box in it if they can indeed read this from the software and also, is the clutch cable of handling around 500nm of torque?
 
Are these safe to run from new or is it best to get a few miles on the clock first? Think I'll be ordering one in the next few weeks ready for when the car is shipped over

IMO I would say you are better off waiting until you have clocked a few miles up first, there are two reasons for this.

1. Seat recomend a 'running in period' this is seen as a bit old hat now and some withh argue that the endinge should be ready to rock and roll at time of delivery and some even belive that 'all engines are run it at the factory', whatever the truth may be the fact is that in the owners manual there are very specific guildelines for the 'running in' of the engine and I feel if you want to get the best from the engine that you are probably best to take note of this advice.

2. Its nice to get to know your engine and its limits BEFORE installing the box so that you can see just how much of a difference the box makes. Otherwise the only time you will see any actual change is when you take the box off and you see the losses that come with doing that.

It shouldn't take long to clock up 1000 miles and at least if you do that you will have a little piece of mind you will have less chance of damaging any parts of the engine that aren't yet properly worn/seated in.
 
We'd usually suggest waiting til you have 1000 miles on the clock before adding the box
 
The engine in the Cupra/Cupra 280/S3/Golf R needs about 5k to be put on it before tinkering with properly.

Apparently there are quite a few buggered Golf R engines already.

I'm new to this website, I have read through the post and noticed that it doesn't really talk much about the difference from the crd-t and the crd2+? I understand the power is slightly different but which one is actually better for a standard leon sc 184? Please can someone advise ASAP as I want to order one! :D

The 2 channel CRDT is the best option :) feel free to give me a call tomorrow if you're free
