I did have that thought but then thought hundreda of people on the original thread cant be wrong so didnt think would do any harm. Plus my prob was with starting rather than anything else. I think ill go for a drive tomoz and if it doesnt improve ill try clean out the connector. What is safe to use on the connector itself, not the mafI wouldn't have tried any "mods" while the system was unstable. You never know.

ill have a play tomoz, its hard to tell cos driving normally its fine its when its a bit more progressive and twisty that you notice all the lag. it takes like 2 seconds to wind up where before it was just there.Just take the connector off for 1 mile drive it the power is there u know it's a maf problem, 1 it can be dirty , 2 might be connectors has wrong grease or too much,

Cheers. how do you reset ecu if it comes to itToo many variables to chase a few mpg. This can be explained with a reset as as the ecu learns and adapts an awful lot. I expect it will improve...
Not sure on the fuel pipe but if I remember Il take a look at an older 1.9tdi PD lump in a MK4 golf I'm doing the turbo on on the weekend.
Can anyone take a quick photo of there plug so I can be sure I put it in correctly. I believe it should have been like this, as I'm sure the 2 was in that position
Done my best to clean the grease out as much as I can, obviously cant get it all out as its deep inside the female connector, but I didn't put much on anyway.
I've also had the MAF off and cleaned it. Now back on and initial idling seems better, yet to drive it though so will update later.
With regards to the starting problem will have to see if reoccurs naturally, if it does then in the garage it will go unless anyone else can comment on the refreshed list above and next steps to take?
Can u put a volt meter probe in the connector and other end probe which u will have to follow where the wire is and see if each wire is reading if that's ok the connector is fine
I have now been for a long drive, wow what a difference, performance seems to be restored, there is still some lag but think that could just be the difference in between this turbo and my old one. Although most of the drive was motorway, Mpg is back up to about 43 and even saw 44 at one point which I've never seen. Everyone should clean there MAF if they never have regardless of mileage as mine only has 37k
