I've been using a rcd-510 dab for over a year now and I really can't get used to the treble. Anyone tried the same head unit or rns 510 with aftermarket speaker and have any recommendations ? I don't want to go down the amp and sub route as fund don't allow.

RNS-510, with VIbe Slick 6 -way co-axials in mine

Question, when you fitted your aftermarket speakers did you cut wire 2 (i think) on the adaptor wiring which came with the speaker adaptor mounts (SAK-3103)

If you didn't, you will have the tweeter at the top of the door & the tweeter in the 2-way speaker working at the same time - hence the high end sounds will be a little harsh

Cutting wire 2 will disable the original tweeter, there is a thread on speakers in the mk2 FAQ section whih tells you what to do

A speaker upgrade will work wonders , just be prepared to take the door card off to replace your tweeter , its not a 5 min job and patience is needed.

while your there i would advise dynamtting your door you wont need a lot but it makes a massive difference.

I put these http://www.jlaudio.co.uk/c5-650-car-audio-c5-speaker-systems-99104
in my front doors and they sound amazing , the bass is much beeter and tighter now.

Took the plunge and got a pair of hertz 165.5l. Chickened out on fitting them and glad I did! Took two experienced fitters all morning to get the passenger door card back on! Got the doors dynamatted too.
Only had them in a few hours but the difference is amazing.
Just wish I could have afforded to amp them at the same time

I did tell you that you will need patience for the door cards lol
How much labour did they charge you ?

Dynanatting makes loads of difference to the sound , your doors should have that nice solid clonk when shutting now as well.

It was around £40 labour. I really didn't want someone else to do it but I'd never have the time to do it myself.
Even after a few hours the sound really good. Don't think I'll get a sub but I do fancy amping them. Still can't make my mind up on what head unit suits my needs

I've read quite a few people lose bass when they change speakers but I've found I gained more controlled deeper bass. Treble is also more controlled and doesn't leave my ears bleeding!

Just hertz esk 165l speakers and dynamat. Did alter the settings of the head unit with vag com a while ago. Think if you set it to skoda you get even more bass and treble. Just set at linear at the moment

I have vibe speakers and they're definitely more bassy than stock speakers. I have a subwoofer as well, though, as there still wasn't enough bass.

Just took my door cards off to fix the noisey electric windows only to find the supposed audio installer had made a right job of it. Guess if you want a job doing right you got to do it yourself!

Apologies for an old thread revival. I'm looking at fitting the same speakers as you.......did you need to adapt anything to make them fit the doors etc.......my mate has said something about having to make some adaptors..????
