I was advised to do it all the same time, but i didnt. my car has now done 112k on the same OEM set of top mounts

I think its pot luck to b honest so i would advise to change them!

Probably right, I had a knock when was fitting coilovers so renewed everything, that was nearly 2 years ago.
Now Iv got a slight knock again, got new tyres fitted just now and gave the droplink a rattle and doesnt seem to be anything there so maybe top mounts again :(

Do the bearing for sure. Top mount is likely to be fine.. it is a dumb bit of rubber and steel and unless you have high loads (e.g. high rate springs or batter your car over rough stuff) then the rubber will be fine. My top bearing failure would cause the front springs to "ping" as the springs rotated not the bearings .. you noticed only at slow speeds when parking etc.

Im doing the bearings when i fit the Fabia VRS suspension too mine soon,i suggest getting them from Dave at Seres motors, received mine today and were £22 delivered.

Sorry to regurgitate this post guys, but I too have a set of coilovers for my 2007/mk4 ibiza, which were originally out of a 9n3 polo. Will I need to get topmounts to suit the coilovers? My ibiza is the 1.9tdi FR

Thanks chino! Only thing is, my engine is a lot heavier than the 1.2 petrol polo, so I thought surely that would have an effect on the size of topmounts? The standard springs in my car are a lot more Beefy than the standards in a polo.

I'd check what part numbers are involved, however, you could just take the topmounts of your existing setup and transfer them to the new suspension? Is the suspension kit you are getting rated for the weight of your car(spring rate etc)? I didn't realise you were taking from a different engine spec.
